Guilty Gear Strive is a fighting video game developed and published by Arc System Works. It is the seventh mainline installment of the Guilty Gear series and the 25th overall. The game was released worldwide on June 11, 2021. It uses Unreal Engine 4. Intended as a "complete reconstruction of the franchise", Guilty Gear Strive retains the core essence of the series but revamps many features and mechanics, except for the removal of the series’ signature mechanic, the Instant Kill. It introduces the "Wall Break" feature, which allows for stage transitions when a combo is initiated in the corner of the arena. Guilty Gear Strive was released for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Microsoft Windows on June 11, 2021. It was also distributed via Sega to Japanese arcades on July 29, 2021. "Limited Edition" and "Ultimate Edition" editions were made available for pre-order; console players who get the latter received early access to the full game on June 8, 2021.

Brawlhalla is a free-to-play 2D platformer fighting game developed by Blue Mammoth Games and Ubisoft for Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Steam, iOS, and Android, with full cross-play across all platforms. It also has some of the most satisfying combo mechanics of any fighting game I've played, because doing successful low damage to kill combos is extremely hard. You have to either 100% know where your opponent is going or just make up some wacky play and hope for the best. It makes the kills all the more exciting. Brawlhalla has reached OVER 1 million in esports prize pools this year and over 50 million online players in total.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate is a 2018 Japanese crossover fighting game developed by Bandai Namco Studios and Sora Ltd. and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. It is the fifth installment in the Super Smash Bros. series, succeeding Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. The game follows the series' traditional style of gameplay: controlling one of the various characters, players must use differing attacks to weaken their opponents and knock them out of an arena. It features a wide variety of game modes, including a campaign for single-player and multiplayer versus modes. Ultimate features 89 playable fighters, including all characters from previous Super Smash Bros. games alongside newcomers. The roster ranges from Nintendo mascots to characters from third-party franchises.

Street Fighter V is a fighting game developed by Capcom and Dimps and published by Capcom for the PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows in 2016. Similar to the previous games in the Street Fighter series, Street Fighter V features a side-scrolling fighting gameplay system. The game also introduces the "V-Gauge", which builds as the player receives attacks and adds three new skills. The game features 16 characters at launch, with four of them being new to the series. A story mode and 30 additional characters were added through updates and downloadable content.

Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike (ストリートファイターⅢ サードストライク Sutorīto Faitā Ⅲ Sādo Sutoraiku?) is the third installment of the Street Fighter III series, released in 1999. A sequel to Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact, it continues the series' use of the parry system, command grabs, and overhead attacks. At Comic Con 2010, a new downloadable online version entitled Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition was announced.[1] It was released on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade in August 2011. The arcade version of the game was also re-released in the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection in 2018.

little mac is such an interesting example of a glass canon because he's designed to be nearly incapable of engaging with one of the most fundamental aspects of a platform fighter; vertical positioning.
  • @Gonzakoable
Man, I remember when nago was only a cannon with 0 glass. He used to have the highest health in the game.

I think I really like Leon Masseys summary of how chipp fits the glass cannon archetype. Instead of being high damage-low health hes low health-high amount of options, if that makes sense. He has a good rounded toolset including a meterless reversel, a lot of mixups, very high speed making it easy for him to start his pressure, a lot of variied pressure with great mental stack, etc. Hes basically a swiss army knive made of diamond that crumbles into dust if you sneeze at him wrong.

I see Makoto I click. Great video once again

While I will always hold a grudge against Nago for pretty much stealing Sin's strengths, I can't deny that he's hype as hell. Even if getting killed by him can feel like someone just pulled a gun in an armwrestling match.
  • @vladislavz1459
funny enough akuma went into tekken 7 and instead of remaining a glass cannon, he just became a cannon
  • @puffii_
As a chipp main my warm-up routine involves a little bit of combo routing practice, hand stretches, and doing a line of pure colombian cocaine.
  • @E_Fig05
I think Mewtwo sorta counts as a Glass cannon. I don't know where else he fits in the archetypes.
  • It's not just that Nagoriyuki has great specials, he also can cancel specials into specials for the cost of more blood, giving him some truly monstrous damage if he chooses to go all in. You just better hope it kills.
  • @cuecrunch
glass cannon isn't really a good descriptor for most of these characters, glass cannons are really meant to, well, be fragile. Makoto and Nagoryuki are better classified as "One-Chance" characters. There are alot of these types of characters in older fighting games, like ABA from GGXX. Glass cannon is just the wrong descriptor for this kind of character.
  • @ViorbyX
To be honest, Pichu is also a glass cannon. Pichu is a pre-evolution of Pikachu, so he's an echo fighter. Not only does he gives more damage, have much less protection and the lack of a feature of his evolution - squelching after performing an aerial attack, landing on the ground, Pichu deals damage to himself when using electric attacks

The Phazon Set was when Scarlet was actually busted, and Jiro got insane buffs between 2018 to 2022 (On release, Jiro was just Glass, no cannon, then they buffed his sig power, then buffed sig speed)
  • The glass cannon archetype and pixie archetype tend to go hand in hand with each other most of the time. I'm a big fan of Ms Fortune from Skullgirls, but I think Eliza would fit this list better as a glass cannon
  • @GS_CCC
Now Nago can be called a Glass Cannon more easily, before he was like a tank with jet engines. To much HP and Agile before the blood got high. Now he is more manageble and fits his role better.

Nice to see that you are doing fighting game and non-fighting game related videos. Keep it up!
  • @billyboleson2830
Also characters that don’t have low health (average or above average HP) but instead exchange HP for powerful attacks I think count as glass canons too. Cause while they still might have good defense they still have too sacrifice health which may end up backfiring. Carmine from Under Night, Mira from Killer Instinct, A.B.A from Guilty Gear all do INSANE damage and have good defense and defensive options but reckless behavior will get you killed like Nago

  • @myang12003
In dive kick, everyone is glass cannon!
  • @Coswalker27
I did not know akuma was a glass canon. Damn I really do play a diverse group of fighting game characters.
