Unfortunately the ad broke my suspension of disbelief, because nobody in the 1950s would ask anyone to stop smoking
  • @auspistic
I can't believe in the 1950s they called a filling machine a "rinsing machine"
  • @gammaray9294
Richard will never be as talented as a rinsing machine

I like to believe that Huggbees just looked up “earliest recorded footage of a filling machine” and that’s why we have this video
  • This is actually amazing. I love this guy’s content, he would’ve been great for a network like Adult Swim.

We need to give this man a budget to make a real documentary

you’ll probably never see this huggbees but i have a little story, my cousin was one of those people who would talk over tv shows and movies, an his humor is really similar to yours. he was killed in the Russo-Ukrainian conflict a little over a year ago and i feel great comfort watching your videos

“Smarge” I love the use of authentic 50s slang

Oh, the 1950s. The decade where you could acuse anyone of being a communist and had to go to sleep knowing nuclear war could start at any second. Those were the days.

Love the fact this just turned into Matrix halfway through, and the way the commentary cut out at 20:16 genuinely scared me. Like, no laughing at the black comedy of it, just a deep, unsettling feeling. 9/10.

Andrew talked about Richard Anderson waking up 3:40 PM exactly when It turned 3:40 PM on my watch, i'm so scared
  • 9:05 As someone deployed to Okinawa this got me good. Everyone knows that we're busy keeping Godzilla contained
  • @LawsonR
Nice reference of "As easy to breath as it sounds on TV." Good nod.

Wow, Hugbees has been around since the 1950's and still looks so young? I mean this is proof. Everyone knows you physically can't dub audio over a video unless you did it at the time of recording.

The fact that this popped up while listening to 50s music is beyond than great timing!!
  • It’s little things that make me laugh. The “smarge” line really feels like an early Simpsons joke.

Going to Hawaii was more of a 60s thing - part of the jet age. Before the rise of jets, you had to take a boat to get Hawaii, which most people had no interest in. But in the 60s you could fly there, even faster than today (airlines fly slower today to save fuel. NY to LA is up to an hour longer today than in the 60s).

My grandparents (who are still living) got married in 1950. My grandmother was a switchboard operator for a while. They said the 50s were really comfy.
