The spinning serves the same purpose as the sacred drugs, it puts you into a different space, one unfamiliar and disorienting, separating us from our own power and placing us in the realm of another. Clearing the mind of all but one thought, "Oh God, I seek thee!" makes the connection, allows us the hear words not spoken by any man. The drumming makes the rhythm and blocks out all distractions. In that spinning circle, there is but you and God. Wonderful idea.

I attended a Sufi dervish ritual in the Cathedral of St. John the Divine over 30 years ago. This reminded me of that and brought tears of joy.
  • Sufi Dance in front of a Cross and inside a Church!!!! That is the true Sufi Respect!!!!!!!

Dear God, guide me towards meaning and truth, and detach me from my never ending suffering and chaos.

It has always fascinated me how can she stand to turn so much with her eyes closed without loosing balance🤩
  • This was just randomly recommended by youtube and I do not regret clicking to this. Wow. This is just so amazing and I got goosebumps.
  • What amazes me is her foot work at 1:22 and all throughout the dance. She's not just spinning she's taking measured steps, her movements are precise and intentional and I think that's amazing!!!
  • Fantastic. The purcussion is controlled, joyous and supremely skilled. This really is massively impressive. Salute to the dancer and hats off to the drummers. It was magnificent.
  • How beautiful! It's a prayer to God without words, danced in a circle symbolic of eternity!

It feels like the creation of a vortex of energy, to receive from the Divine. So soothing to watch.

  • “O Lord, if I worship You because of Fear of Hell, then burn me in Hell; If I worship You because I desire Paradise, then exclude me from Paradise; But if I worship You for Yourself alone, then deny me not your Eternal Beauty” The prayer of Rabia Al Adawiyya

This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard and seen humans do. Thank you.

I feel in this mystical dance that human, despite the tragedy of life, can continue to rotate. The constant rotation, although it is moving, Try to spin like this, you will notice that with the speed of rotation, you will spin spontaneously and when you want to stop, you will not stop immediately.. It will take a few laps to stop, and so the human life becomes fast when he is busy in life, and then slows down little by little until life stops
  • Its nice to find such performances, reminding that music & dance are about our human spiritual nature, they are Holy Blessing liberation but also connection to the Holy Creation, because FAITH should help us feel protected instead of some kind of evil above to threat us all the time, wish you all the best, stay blessed Friends

I rarely ever cry tears of joy…but sufi dances bring them out so easily. Something magical it is. God is beautiful. God is us.

They don't spot. Isn't that amazing!!?! They put there foot down in the same spot with each turn. I love this dance. This dancer is very good. She is expressing a deep divine offering. Very beautiful.
