The incomparable Streisand. What a marvelous voice. No gimmicks and flashy settings needed.

Happy father's day, Dad. I dedicate this song to you. 21.06.2020❤️❤️
  • Someone to hold you too close Someone to hurt you too deep Someone to sit in your chair And ruin your sleep And make you aware of being alive Someone to need you too much Someone to know you too well Someone to pull you up short And put you through hell And give you support for being alive, being alive Make me alive, make me confused Mock me with praise, let me be used Vary my days, but alone is alone, not alive! Somebody hold me too close Somebody force me to care Somebody make me come through I'll always be there As frightened as you of being alive Being alive, being alive! Someone you have to let in Someone whose feelings you spare Someone who, like it or not Will want you to share a little, a lot of being alive Make me alive, make me confused Mock me with praise, let me be used Vary my days, but alone is alone, not alive! Somebody crowd me with love Somebody force me to care Somebody make me come through I'll always be there Frightened as you to help us survive, Being alive, being alive, being alive, being alive

This is the best rendition of this song I've ever heard with the possible exception of Dean Jones in the original cast of "Company." Raul Esparza"s version has received a lot of praise and is good but heavier and somewhat darker. This album was made during the height of Barbra's vocal power and flawless quality which I consider a lucky thing.

Watching Marriage Story resurrected my love for this song, and remembering this version of it, reminding me of discovering this album in my parent's vinyl collection when I was 9 or 10. Singing along with the liner notes as if I had any understanding of the depth of feeling in the lyrics! Babs <3 <3

I recently heard someone else sing this. Good, but nothing compares with Barbra's rendition!

It is a Gem that's distinctly Barbra, though we know how we feel regarding Originals through many genres❤🦋
  • She ATTACKS the lyrics... As it should be and so few do... This is a life changing epiphany happening within the song ... Bobby gets woke!!
