The killing gods part is kind of a weak argument. Greek and Nordic mythologies are… mythologies. Maybe in 3000 years from now, Islam and Christianity will be studied as ancient mythologies. The problem arises where you have a very significant amount of people who still follow Hinduism. I guarantee people would be pissed off about a game where you killed Jesus in some fantastical setting. Nobody cares about Odin being fought because he isn’t a religious figure to any significant amount of people, not even Nordic people. Same with the Greek gods because 81% of Greeks are Christians, while 14% are atheists and the other 5% are whatever else.

the fact that Odin shows up in FF in general always warmed my heart. It's a nod towards Nordic culture. D&D bringing up Vishnu is a cool nod to Hinduism why can't they appreciate things?
