We need to talk about Minecraft Servers.

Some Minecraft multiplayer servers are being shut down this year - but why is this happening? I researched that topic in this video, and found out why servers like Mineplex and Pixel Paradise shut down this year, and why other servers could be in danger. All of this Minecraft commentary, over Minecraft server gameplay and RTX cinematics.

    Pixel Paradise deserved it

At this rate all the "featured servers" are dying, it's a bit odd how many players bedrock have, yet the servers aren't getting a ton of players, except a few. Microsoft/Mojang should probably promote/add new featured servers sooner than later, at this rate there will only really be hive, cubecraft left.

My least favorite thing on Galaxite is the mixed games instead of us players getting the choice to choose which game we want to play we have to hope that we get to play the game we want and when we don't get to play the game we want you have to leave the game and try again and again until we get to play the game we want too or just play on a different server.

As long as Hive, Cubecraft, and Galaxite stay alive, I'm fine
  • @DrYellower
I'm surprised Pixel Paradise stayed around as long as it did. When I first learned it was owned by InPvP I thought it might be something different that wouldn't fit together with Mineville so when it turned out to be more or less the same it felt inevitable they'd merge together at some point.
  • Anyone remember the times when Mineplex had a higher average player count than both Hypixel and Hive? And that for quite some time
  • @bialysmartfon
As a java player, I'm so sorry for people who played on those bedrock servers. I hope you all can still find another <3
  • @helenfu5550
No server (bedrock) has really focused much on the survival aspect of Minecraft, mostly just some skyblock and that's all
  • @LightningfoxxyMC
Honestly I enjoyed the few games that worked on Mineplex. When I had an issue with joining featured servers due to broken packs Mineplex was the only one that worked, so I grew quite fond of it. Sad to see it go but hopefully its back soon

I wish pixel paradise came back, I would then be able to continue not supporting it😢
  • @MrKrickitt1
I didn't really expect pixel paradise to get shut down, but I can't really say I was suprised.

Honestly, this is sad. Its always sad to see one of the old greats of gaming suffer. People in general tho seem to have moved on from minecraft favoring games like valorant, or Gta, or modern warfare. I love this game that is minecraft very dearly, but at this rate…i think we might have to say goodbye to a lot of servers in a couple years or so
  • @Tendee
It makes sense that the same people ran mineville, they totally ruined inpvp. It used to have fun gamemodes and was a pretty cool server, like tower wars was cool, until they removed it and added that terrible "high school roleplay".

Hi, Galaxite main here, you may remember me from the Core Wars Push and Frost Fight tourneys. I am 100% certain Galaxite is on life support from Blockception (parent company) and probably has been since launch; I rarely ever see people using their cosmetics outside of the defaults, dedicated F2P players (it isn't even that hard to get the right item anyway, time is most often the bottleneck) and helpers (who have a special reward program that can give them). If the server Minecoin/revenue cut is particularly good, there's a chance that the many instances of people just buying uselessly high amounts of Elite helped in burst revenue (log on, punch the Elite X to the right of spawn, see it for yourself. it's absurd), but I doubt it. There are rumors that the server isn't profitable period and the staff are paid pretty badly, but I can't confirm either of those (and the staff at least seem to have fun). Community's hoping the My Farm Life release gets the players up, since Minecraft players seem to generally like persistent games now, but at this point I'm just hoping Chronos gets open-sourced and someone else picks it back up when the server dies lol

Who remembers when hive had 30k players ( i remember 60 actually but i might get confused with another java server) and cube craft 15-20k players ( i remember 30k-40k players but i might get confused again with another server) with constant great updates massive amazing fun and memorable events a lot of new content and lastly many modes getting mind blowing and massive updates or even better new and great modes
  • @Crating
Sam seems to really care and it shows through his announcements and his frequent interaction with the community. It is so incredibly rare to see an owner that actually seems to care about the community in 2023 so I'm excited to see what the future holds for Mineplex.
  • @zReyds
Mineplex was actually my 3rd favorite featured server So sad that it shut down😢
  • @academiccomet98
EXTREMELY hot take, but I absolutely love Galaxite, and would be very sad to see it get shut down.
  • @MrBogdanYT
As a Server Owner, this year has been the hardest.

Hello PotatoPie25! As you said, servers are also struggling over on Java, even the biggest ones like Hypixel. I was online a few hours ago and at the time, I was the only one in my guild on and there were only 18000 in total. And 11000 of them were of course on Skyblock (surprise surprise). This meant games that I grew up with (Skywars, murdermystery)only had a few hundred players which is really sad. One of the things I Ioved about Hypixel was its really big community and unique minigames. But when I was online, many games had 0 players, and even if it did queue, you frequently stumbled upon the same players since the player count still wasn’t very high.
