  • I remember my grandparents had a Kenmore dehumidifier that they owned for over 30 years until they didn't need it anymore and downsized in 2007. I miss the way it started up. Every time I stayed in the basement bedroom in their house, the dehumidifier's sound always helped me go to sleep at night.

Did you sell it? I have one sort of like that called a 5040 "The Blotter". Built like a tank. I had a newer one that I recently had to throw out because the logic board failed and I couldn't find a replacement board. So I've replaced the power cord on my Kenmore, and need to pick up some oil for the fan motor to try to get the fan to spin freely again. Compressor runs, and the coils are in good shape. If the fan spins well after some oil, I'm cleaning it up and putting it back in service in my basement.

I have one of these! Previous owners left it. Worked great up until last week. It turns on, then within a minute or so it starts to make a squealing noise and something shuts off (motor noise changes, that's all I know) I can't find anyone to service it, any info or tips? How do I oil the fan blades as you mentioned?
