The transition from the Army to civilian life can be difficult to navigate: it takes patience, self-discovery, and surrounding yourself with the right people. Megan Militello—a former air traffic controller turned organic granola CEO—shares what can happen when we have the courage to start over. Megan Militello is the founder and CEO of Elevated Oats, a gourmet granola company in Anchorage, Alaska. She became devoted to spreading the message that living a better life is possible–and consuming food that lifts you up is a gateway to get there. She lives an elevated, healthy, and adventurous life in Alaska with her two dogs. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Beautiful! Thank you for sharing your story. After 13 years of drug abuse and addiction, I want to change and will do everything in my power to overcome intrusive thoughts and habitual habits. God bless everyone who has walked through darkness.
  • Thank you for this TED!! 1. Be accountable!! 2. There's always an option!!

Kudos to You for standing up and making sense of what life means to you and not other people. :)-

Sometimes I wonder about this ME culture (myself included). I have a neighbor who just had a stroke in his 50s, and his wife dumped him. Maybe she’s living her best life now too. But, neighbor’s life is now a solitary daily struggle.

If I had chance to start my life over again I would definitely make sure I would do it right and undo the mistakes I made.
  • I think this is the first account I've heard about someone moving from Hawaii to Alaska, and thriving in the latter state.

notes : - putting an end to habitual thoughts and emotions that limit your consciousness - observe thoughts and consciously make an effort to change them - become accountable for your actions and choices - reading & journaling - make a deeper connection with food - have determination to work your way out of the darkness - keep going, it willl become easier - devote yourself to personal development - limiting ideas and believes - loosing everything let's one have a completely different outlook - put action (personally and professionally) towards being the woman that you have envisioned - change the narrative, put yourself first - practice healthy boundaries - RECONNECT WITH YOURSELF - be compassionate with yourself and let go because you don't know what you don't know

I like her message of starting over. I don’t care if she has or doesn’t have tattoos on her arm or how she looks. I don’t care what any of the other comments say. If you don’t like the experience you don’t need to listen 👂 😅😅😂
  • Hello. The title is “the power of,” but this is actually her life story. I have 3 minutes left, so I’m gonna wait for the life lesson that helps “everyone.”
  • So I wasted my lunch break on “HER” story as opposed to a lesson that teaches and helps with starting over. I’m disappointed, but I’m happy she’s happier and healthier.
  • Ok so .... a person who's family had enough start-up capital to just 'start a business " is supposed to be a lesson to EVERYONE ELSE struggling with no money to our name? Waste of time.
  • On one hand, good for the strength and not turning back. On the other hand, this « ALL ABOUT ME AND MYSELF » times are killing humans as social beings. Already today, a higher percentage of women and men are depressed. They’ve been married a couple of times, have kids with different partners, but are lonely. She says she tried. But, do we have, today, the tools to succeed in trying ? Or is the selfish behaviour already deeply ingrained in us and we just can no longer commit and accept compromises ?
