Contra III was an absolute masterclass in tone and theme. It’s like they took Rambo, the Terminator, Aliens and just a dash of Mad Max and rolled it all into a ball of a game. The soundtrack makes you feel like you’re playing a movie.

This music makes me want to attack aggressively.

After almost 30 years I still can't believe how good the SNES sounds, we have consoles with photo-realistic graphics and 'real' sound now....but nothing can beat an amazing Konami soundrack on the SNES! These are really complex arrangements that get you pumped, they would work in any action movie even now!
  • @Heavyfilo
I always played Contra for it's soundtrack, simply brutal

"Invasion" is the one of the most badass and awesome boss themes of the history of videogames.
  • @MegaAnimeniac
One of the hardest games that I've the privilege to finish.

When you just blow up that car because it's in your way to start the game, you know what you're in for.

Road Warriors has the craziest bass-line I've ever heard in a Super Nintendo game.

This game, is just pure art! Back in the days when Konami were probably the best games company in the world. Hit after hit. Compare that to now, where they are the complete opposite. Shit after shit.

Whenever "Road Warriors" was about to play, I said as if the character were saying "I don't think the radio is available at these critical moments but let's try at least once" and then the music started

This music is perfect. Classic. Totally epitomizes that era of gaming.

It would have been cool to see Arnold & Stallone fighting together agaisnt Aliens
  • This is one of the first games I finished on Hard mode when I was a kid, right when I discovered how the difficulties differed in the SNES. I still feel proud and nostalgic for it. Between the constant defeats, the petitions for more time to the cybercafe's owner, and the monsters that scared the shit out of me, I kept going due to the soundtrack. It made me feel like I was unbeatable, that I was doing the SEAL training blindfolded. I think that's part of what made the SNES so magical. It wasn't only a cutting-edge machine, but it also created friendships and memories.

Even with the technological limitations of the snes, the composer created a reinassance composition worth fighting for

  • For me, Invasion is one of the most epic boss themes ever made: it fills you with adrenaline, wakes you up to the challenge you'll face, and it gives you the feel of "be ready".
