Why is the Moon Upside Down?

Published 2022-03-25
If you’ve never been to the southern hemisphere (or the northern hemisphere, if you live in the southern hemisphere), you might not be aware that the moon and the constellations appear upside down!

In this episode we’ll show you how that appears, why, and how that proves the Earth isn’t flat - as if any more proof were needed!

I’ve been to Mexico many times because part of my family is from there, but this trip I happened to look at the moon and saw the waning crescent pointing upward instead of on its side and it absolutely blew my mind, I never realized it until now lol It’s weird how everyone always mentions the same small stuff regarding different hemispheres like the water circling the drain in a different direction and no one ever mentions this one, it has to be the most blatant one
  • When I was in the south of Morocco I remember staring at the moon for hours. It was beautiful. Crescent in a horseshoe shape with Sadelsuud and Saddlmelik just below it. Never occurred to me that seeing the crescent sideways was a bit out of the ordinary to how I usually view it back home 😂

Hold up so those at the Equator see the moon on its side? I have got to see a full moon at the Equator! That would absolutely blow my mind
  • Feb 24 2024 in Englewood Colorado moon is upside down? Got the same picture from last year and it's not the same
  • @eyeAm0
Please explain why I took two pics of the moon, 3 days apart, and the moon is rotated about 45 degrees. In no research that I've done, nor what I can remember, the moon rotates. Same face, different orientation. Same city. Different time of day/different day. Same camera angle.

If I glue a photo of the moon to the ceiling in my room and look up from one side. Then walk across the room and look up the moon will flip......
  • I have a very serious question I live in Oregon in the United States and recently our moon’s crescent has been more like a smile. It’s strange to me I’ve never seen it like this. Can you explain this
  • my country is located in the midle of the equator, but my particular city is about 1000 km south from the equator. but honestly i have never pay attention to the moon phase. is it like in southern hemisphere or more like in equator.
  • Though I am not a "flat earther" this can also be explained on a "flat earth model". In fact, someone actually broke this down as well using a flat earth model. Personally, I don't think it is flat and I don't think it is "round ball shooting through space". Rather, I think that past "Antartica" there is land that we do not know about. Meaning, I feel like the earth is oblong shaped. The earth as we know it is one side and the other part is past Antartica. Granted, like any theory, I could be wrong. But I will point out, the very scientist that are "main stream" have stated the earth is neither round like a basketball or flat like a pancake.

03:20 I want to see a video of people in Australia upside down, just like you demonstrated

Fancying Penguins is natural and normal. Once you've had Penguin, you'll go cross-eyed and the Moon looks upside down.
  • When the crescent moon is upside down, it can be interpreted as a symbol of the waning or diminishing power of the feminine. Some people also associate the inverted crescent moon with the goddess Lilith, who is often depicted as a dark and powerful figure.

Wait another question does this concept apply to the planets? Would someone at the Equator see Mars Jupiter Saturn etc etc on its side? Same question for those seeing the planets in the southern hemisphere When viewing through a telescope forgot to add that part man space is such a fascinating topic 😂
  • @ZeeJBC
No offense, but this is literally Flat Earth Believer kryptonite. xD
  • @robertjarman3703
What do you mean Mars does not have an atmosphere? It is too thin for us to breathe but they have tornadoes.
  • @finnfisu
Can you make a video on why the clouds between the observer and moon are lit? Always wondered that.
  • I was going to say Australians could be standing on the opposite side of the flat earth to us northerners, but that wouldnt make sense because then there would be an Infinite stack of tortoises in the way 🧐

Though it is a bit off topic my thing to point flat Earthers to is a get a day and night world map, which shows sunrise and sunset where you are, download the map, and then upload it to a website that project an arbitrary image to a sphere. The results are obviously a ball lit from one side. They can deny everything else, but they can at least verify sunrise and sunset, and have people they know in other places do the same. Personally I think there are plenty of things weirder than the concept of a globe, so it is hard to understand that particular hangup.
  • @cheri3000
Im in the Northern Hemisphere specifically Washington DC and on September 1, 2023 the moon does not have the face that im use to viewing, it has the look of the moon from the perspective of the Southern Hemisphere with the block spots in the bottom right. How is this possible?????
  • @albie1000
I always see a crab with one claw in the moon, rather than the man, or rabbit.
