Mozart was 18 when he composed this concert. Amazing! Beautiful interpretation!

The smile of the soloist after a concerto is always so heartwarming. In the grand scope of things, one 20 minute performance means nothing, but for that soloist it means the world. <3

This is very, very nicely played. As a former professional bassoonist, I can say it's uncommon to hear this level of lyricism and musicality on the bassoon. I put money on it he listens to a lot of vocal music.

Hands-down the best recording of this piece I've ever heard. Not only is the soloist amazing, but kudos to the conductor for pulling such great phrasing out of the orchestra. The sound recording engineers did absolute magic on this!

Mozart had a particular gift for bassoon writing.
  • this was the first concerto I ever learned for bassoon many years ago, it still brings tears to my eyes to hear it.
  • What a beautiful, mellow, rich sound the bassoon has. I can't understand why there isn't much more music written for this instrument.
  • Mozart was truly a genius And i'm so glad he gave all instruments a chance to shine

His sound is astounding. I can't get over how perfect his vibrato is.
  • As a concert pianist who has played 8 of the piano concerti.. This is one of the most beautiful and well played versions I have heard of the Bb Bassoon. Bravo maestro. Beautiful clarity, and ornamentation as well as fab breathing technique and excellent conducting. Truly stunning.
  • Solo's are very demanding and Motzart didn't make things easy. This guy is awesome, as are they all. Encore encore.

I have listened to many recordings of this on YouTube within the past few days. In my opinion this recording is the best one. The soloist is so expressive -- I think he may be one of the best wind instrument performers I've ever heard
  • This bassoonist is amazing!! I had the 3rd movement as my bridesmaids/groomsmen processional at my wedding, October 28, 1993 at St. Anthony's Church in Streator, Illinois. Sadly, the bassoonist could not make it as his father was admitted to the hospital that morning. But, our organist, Jean Drendel, played it very well! I had to order it from a publisher in Germany and it took from July to October for us to receive it. It was very worth it! I have never suggested it to be played at any other wedding since....it's a special memory for us!

As a cello player I have always appreciated the sound of the bassoon. It has that same sweet tenor clef resonance, it's like the wind instrument version of the cello. Few composers can showcase the ability of the bassoon to produce some of the most lovely sounds on Earth quite like Mozart. Love it!
