Harry Potter Actors' LEAST Favorite Scenes To Film

While living at Hogwarts and soaring through the air on flying broomsticks might seem like the most exciting and memorable experiences, the truth is the actors on the Harry Potter film sets didn’t always have such a great experience bringing magic to the screen.

Ron actor had to face his real life fear - spiders! Like his character, Grant suffers arachnophobia. The underwater scenes look cool on screen - both figuratively AND literally. When filming during some of the coldest months of the year, the actors often found themselves freezing in water, feeling absolutely miserable. Rupert Grint felt so unwell once, he thought his heart had stopped beating and Daniel Radcliffe dealt with two ear infections! Let’s be honest, we’ve all wanted to mount a flying broom and try our hand at Quidditch, but hearing from those who’ve actually experienced the wizarding world sport changes how keen we are to try. The actors hated having to film those scenes as they all found themselves in lots of pain and winding up with “numb bums.”
In the later films as the characters are growing up, the content gets a bit more mature and kissing becomes more common. The actors, who’d all known each other for years and had very family-like relationships with each other dreaded filming these kissing scenes. Instead of being romantic, they were usually just very awkward. Having a whole crowd of people watching and filming very up close probably didn’t help matters either. The Room of Requirement may be a brilliant saviour for the witches and wizards throughout the series, but filming in the room wasn’t the best for the actors. Some actors were left feeling hysterical from claustrophobia and others were overheating - yikes!

As a scuba diver myself, I already knew the underwater scenes would be the most difficult for Daniel. I found out how they filmed these scenes the other week and it blew my mind. HUGE Props to Daniel. Breathing without a mask was tough to learn for me during training. Still today, my heart rate goes up like crazy if I have to change my mask underwater. Seriously, HUGE props. I respect him as an actor even more now.
  • Alan Rickman was hand picked to play Snape by J.K. Rowling, and received special instructions from her about character. Rowling even provided him with vital details of Snape's backstory, not revealed until the final novel.
  • Poor Staunton! Imagine the directors saying: Umbridge is toad-like and ugly... you're perfect for the role!

“The more you hate a character…you know how good they’re acting is”

during voldemort's embrace you can see that dean thomas' actor almost burst out laughing
  • Can we appreciate how much it must’ve hurt for Tom and Daniel to jump of the broom onto hard floor?!?!

Well the actors had to do some hard stuff. Still they have one of the most amazing jobs ever. Imagine being in such an iconic franchise. Totally worth it.
  • Toughest thing, is a fact that Emma, Daniel and rupert aren't the same friends as they used to be

The ginny/harry kiss is perhaps the most awkward kiss in movie history. I'm so sad that Bonnie couldn't put her nervousness aside and turn on the acting. Their whole Harry/ginny dynamic was really off for me anytime an ounce of romance was required.

Matthew Lewis was a pro threw the whole ear drum situation not making a fuss at all during the scene. How brilliant 👏 xx

1:04 ya… both of them don’t like homework Before the third Harry Potter movie, the new Director had a trio write a one-page essay about their character. In true Hermione fashion, Emma Watson wrote a multiple page essay, Daniel did a one page essay as requested, Rupert didn’t hand one in at all, when the director asked “why didn’t you do it? Rupert said “Ron wouldn’t do it, so I didn’t”. The director loved that response

Daniel, Rupert and Emma will always deserve a big thank you because they worked so hard as children to give us these amazing films.
  • The rotting food bit shocked me. I thought it was fake food and they had just given each actor/actress a bit of food
  • @DarkTempler1
Wow I had no idea it went to that level of discomfort. You forgot to mention that when Black died and Harry’s scream was so saddening they muted it in the movie because it made multiple actors start crying on set. Emma Watson being one of them
  • @Avipsaaa
Fun fact - during ongoing shooting rupert and matthew was not allowed to go near the car alan rickman bought recently.....because once they spilt their milkshake on the car 🤣
  • 11 years after the last movie and they are still legends in cinemas and continue to attract more and more fans over the years thanks to this amazing series.

Sometimes their discomfort actually added to the realism of their story, their acting. Well done!
