When fishing for Carp in the Autumn months the Chod rig really comes into it's own! A go anywhere, fish anywhere rig, it's accounted for thousands of big Carp across the UK and is an excellent addition to the Carp anglers armoury.

In this video AD Team Member Stephen Crowe talks us through a beginners guide of do's and don'ts when it comes to chod fishing.

Wow just seeing this out of the box youtube.com/post/UgkxQr1yd4Zc6qJF-scTB6Zb9dQbVpviu… recommend I have yet to fish with this set up, but based on the first hands on appeal, I can tell this is going to change the way i pack and carry to a whole new level. If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.

Question. Doesn’t the ledger hit the fish in the face when playing it though. As in your set up the hook link is same distance as the lead weight? I thought it needed a bit of distance ? Also will be a lot of pressure on the lead weight as the fish pulls sort of sideways on the main line. Any comments welcome. Fishing a new really weedy lake
  • How does the mechanics differ between the stiff hinged and the chod rigs, would you use either for the same conditions and is one better than the other?
  • @darrenfox1879
Hi when would you opt to fish a fixed naked chod over a running set up. Thanks
  • @sydthorpe7767
Could u use a ronnie rig instead of a chod rig i know its a stupid question but i was just wondering

I'm a bit confused as haven't fished weed a lot. This guy said fish slack lines, but wouldn't they sink in the weed and cause a problem? I thought in weed you need your rods up and tight lines? I only ask as not sure myself and about to start a campaign on a very weedy lake. Either way though, very informative video 👍

Thanks for good explanation, looking to try this soon. What main line are you using, heavy mono or flurocarbon? Thanks

for some reason on my rigs my heli safe won't drop the lead and for some reason ejects the whole end section and only leaving me above the swivel .meaning I'd have to replace the whole thing .......???...any help much appreciated

The chod rig seems perfect for the venues I fish, which are mostly almost completely surrounded by trees, so they have a ton of crap on the bottom pretty much all year round. But on one, I stopped using it because fishing is only allowed from boat, therefore slack line. Doesn't the combination of a heli rig and slack line run the risk of poor bite indication? Or do you only fish it semi slack - just enough to let the leadcore lie flat?
  • I had boilies for almost 3 years ago and never had results on them, what can the problem be?I only get results on Tigernuts.
