Oh boy, you know my own country better than me. I was in Limon for the first time in over 50 years. I know more about the East coast from Key West to NY. Next time in Costa Rica i will definitely spend more time in Limon.

In 1993 I surfed at Jaco, drove through the night, and swam at Limon the next morning. I swam in the Pacific and the Atlantic in under 24 hours, best memory of my life!

It's worth it for a few days. The food is more flavorful thanks to Jamaican and other Caribbean descendants bring flavor and vibes. San Jose's food is meh..to me at least. I've traveled to the Caribbean side as a solo traveler and I've lived to tell the tales. People should visit and try not to be deterred by the ppl that say "don't go, it's dangerous" or "do you know about those ppl over there?" . Act like you have sense, be respectful and enjoy! I loved this video,Pura Vida!
  • I absolutely loved the video!! Maybe because I spent 3 months in Puerto Viejo and just left a month ago. In the first days I was told that I have to be aware of crimes and what so ever but during my time there I never got into any dangerous situation. Of course you should pay attention at night and don´t walk alone but I don´t think its more dangerous than in any European or American city if you are in the wrong place in a wrong time it can happen anywhere. As you said you can definitely leave out the "bigger" cities like Limon and Tortugero ( if you wanna see some alligators you should go anyways) but videos cant show the real beauty of the southern Caribean coast its hard to comprehend how the atmosphere, the people, the surfing vibe and all the different colors and animals (especially in Cahuita NP and Manzanillo RP) create this Pura Vida life, and you can only experience by going there. If you have the chance PLEASE go there and I promise everyone will feel comfortable no matter if it is in a resort or in a backpacker hostel. No matter if it is at the beach, Spa, Party or exploring the jungle. But maybe go when it is dry season so that heavy rain can not cross your plans. ;)

Beautiful editing, awesome video! Love how you zoom out to give that aerial view to get an overall perspective. That apartment was $140/ $85 per night? HUGE and nice!
