Most sponsors prefer to have their ads at the start or middle of a video - but for some videos that can really affect the viewing experience. So with that in mind, I'd like to take a second to appreciate Displate, who permit me to put their ads at any point in my videos. In this video, their ad is at 1:39:55. As a result, you get an uninterrupted viewing experience in this one, so I'd really appreciate if you could check out their products, if you're interested. I'm lucky to have them supporting this sort of lore content, and of course lucky to have you guys supporting as well. Thank you!

37:08 “placidusax is in a state of eternal maidenlessness.” Yeah, same
  • @tanks608
Vaati dropping a video right now, seems like DLC update confirmation to me!
  • watch a movie: nah watch an almost 2 hour youtube video about game lore: hell yeah
  • @Ziostorm
The quality of these videos is just incredible. The music, cinematography, and presentation really make you feel the scale of Elden Ring.
  • @Dahrell77
I love the fact that we had so much dragon-related Zullie the Witch content recently and to discover now that it was no coincidence and that you two were collaborating for this wonderful and massive video !
  • @ServerYT
1:08:56 So we got a floating city that is most likely from Caelid, and a possible huge part of land that vanished, right next to architecture that looks exactly like Farum Azula, and on the other side you've got animals and Giants that match the beings from the other side? Has anyone considered the fact that Farum Azula IS the land bridge that is now gone?
  • @samslenderman
This is my favorite lore video on the channel. So much substance involved with the ancient dragons and I love how FromSoft designed the Farum Azula architecture into Caelid and didn't write any item descriptions or dialogue to explain it, letting us draw the connection ourselves as to how or why the dragons and probably their caretakers (Beastmen) migrated or established roots to that region. I know From is welk-known for this, leaving things unexplained or unanswered for us to interpret how we prefer, but this is just one of the coolest examples of it
  • Im already ready for Vaat to drop the 8 hour video essay analyzing the DLC trailer
  • I don't know what's more mind-blowing: The staggering amount of detail FromSoft packed into this game, or the ability of Vaati and his team to rigorously parse it all out.
  • @lukaerd6258
-The Nameless Dragon God abandoned Placidusax. -Marika abandoned Godfrey looks at Ranni Uh oh...
  • Goddamn, the opinion that every tid bit of deep Elden Ring lore is piece meal and connected mostly by speculation and coincidence is getting harder and harder to argue. Your research and deep diving into it shows that it's all just too consistent and specific to not be intentional. The stuff about Miquella's needle needing the absence of time - and all the time related stuff with the dragons and Farum Azula in general, is an amazing piece of detailed lore that noooo one could put together without knowing the full picture of almost everything else. If it were just kind of a bunch of concepts thrown into a pot and scrambled together, it would instantly fall apart when you dug into it and examined the references and connections between things, whether it's item descriptions, character or weapon models, the passive story telling in the environments, it's fucking nutty to conceive hahaha The notion that you, and other creators can make a career almost exclusively deciphering and piecing this stuff together is an ode to the talent of the writers for these games. I was convinced before and didn't hold any of the doubts that people usually bring up ("it's not as thorough as you think, it's a skeleton and the players fill in all of the gaps etc etc") but now I am 100% certain these are some of the greatest world building writers that are out there or that there will be. No other game or fictional world, that ive interacted with, comes even close in my mind. It's top notch shit.
  • Best video in awhile, Vaati! I really like the theory that Azula was once just built in Caelid and a meteor came down, uprooting it and making it float forever. It makes so much sense when you look at architecture in Caelid and Radahn's story, along with what happens to the ground when a meteor goes through in in Limgrave.
  • I really appreciate the dragons in Elden Ring because it’s the first time in the series for me that they really felt like a “people” or group. Before you just have Seath and the immortal dragon in DS1, nothing else. In DS2 you have the fake dragon and Sinh, the rest are completely uncharacteristic. DS3 has even less so. I feel like Elden Ring really makes them feel more like characters with their names and unique abilities. At least, for me it did
  • @meropitou
one thing about the glintstone dragons that i appreciate very much is how they are named. the first glintstone dragon Smarag is most certainly named after the precious gemstone emerald, which is called a smaragd in german for example, a stone known for its green color. Adula is what truely made me smile though, because it is likely named after Adularia or the effect of adularescence which describes the blue sheen most commonly found in moonstones. a good fit for Ranni's oathsworn
  • The amount of attention to detail it takes to disassemble all the lore and story bits to put it into item descriptions, environments and putting them back together is such a mind boggling thing to see unfold thats why fromsoft games would always be special. Also the people who goes out of their way to piece everything in a team effort matter is such an awesome thing these games does to its players.
  • Hey first time commenting, I love these videos! Anyway, about Castle Sol's relationship with Liurnia: I remember in one of your previous videos you speculated that Miquella was doing a ritual there, one involving an eclipse to return Godwyn to life. Maybe he was giving gifts to Liurnia in order to curry favor with Rennala! It seems if I was messing with eclipses, I would want an Astrologer particularly connected to the moon. Maybe he wanted her expertise for the ritual? I dunno it just popped into my head binging your videos. Keep up the great work!
  • I like the idea of placidusax having both male and female heads, it mirrors Marika and Radagon in a really cool way as we have these two Elden lords that sired their offspring with themself
  • @taparsell12
Vaati, I LOVE your longer content. The quality and depth is awesome. I'll watch your 40, 50, 60+ minute videos once and then replay them as if they were audio podcasts. I'm interested to hear your thoughts/analysis on the DLC release date trailer.
  • @Jdimarco89
Thanks for the deep dives. These are so interesting to listen to!
