  • They don't apologize for what they did, but for japanese people being "concerned" about it. It's not a real apology!
  • Basically Ubisoft is not sorry for doing a huge mistake insulting Japanese Culture. They are sorry because they are caught.

Yeah, it was another non-apology. Screw Ubisoft.

Few Japanese accept the new statement about Assassin Creed Shadows released on Ubisoft's X account in Japan. It's clear that Ubisoft's definition of privileged information actually suggests Thomas Lockley. Some Japanese see Ubisoft's statement not as an apology but as a challenge to Japan. He doesn't understand not only the samurai, but even the ninja, and both of the two main characters are completely fake. Ubisoft would have had plenty of time to study samurai, ninja, and Japanese history and culture. There are enough real historians in Japan to get the right advice. Nevertheless, they seem to have replaced the real thing with a fake and still think "Japan can express itself sufficiently at this level." From a Japanese point of view, I think his new statement only further insulted us and added fuel to the fire. We Japanese have not forgotten that the CEO of Ubisoft made us Japanese transparent and essentially called us Japanese racist. They may have forgotten, but they haven't forgotten that we Japanese were defined by them as a people who always perform beheadings in daily life. They steal important cultural properties and art that are important to the Japanese people without hesitation, easily and without permission, and they don't forgive us for using them without permission. None of this was mentioned in their supposed apology statement at X. We Japanese usually look like herbivores because we value harmony and cooperation and avoid conflict. However, when we Japanese feel that our respect and pride have been trampled upon, the Japanese become a fierce fighting people. This cheap apology, not from the head office of Ubisoft, but from the Japanese branch, will not stop the fighting spirit of the Japanese people.

Last game i bought from Ubifkoff was Black Flag i'll never buy another game from these clowns.
  • @rexlumontad5644
The Last Samurai movie paid more respect to Japan's culture compared to Ubisoft.

The president of ubi called us Japanese people racists for pointing out mistakes. And the president of ubi said that our precious foreign friends who support us are also racist. We will never forgive this!
  • Their half-baked "apology" is too little too late because they're the ones that started this whole bruhaha
  • @timketch
Thank goodness we have Ghost of Tsushima.

Those people don't seem to understand how borders work either. Japan can block importation of products if they chose. It'll be a bit more difficult with digital stuff than it would be for actual products. Just because one nation permits you to publish whatever you want doesn't mean others will. Nations like Egypt (remember that?) and Japan have this concept known as honor and leftists seem to enjoy stepping on it.

How appropriate that the "apology" to Japanese people was in English and not Japanese.
