The Torture Murders of Channon Christian and Chris Newsom

Published 2024-04-04
A cute young couple was brutally tortured and murdered. The seeming lack of media coverage has stirred public outrage against what some are calling a hate crime.

  • People are upset that this isn't considered a hate crime, bc if the roles were reversed, it WOULD be a hate crime. And that's the awful truth of it.

Always remember, if someone wants to take you from your current location NEVER EVER go
  • @AdamRiley20
Always remember that this was a hate crime that the media refused to acknowledge.
  • I'm black and stories like this infuriates me because this is clearly a hate crime. Of course, this isn't national news because it doesn't fit the narrative. When I first heard about this story I was completely horrified. R.I.P to that young couple they didn't deserve that evil that was done to them. So sad.

Sounds a lot like the torture was based on racial hatred

Finally! This case needs more attention, thank you for posting.

This is the worst torture murders I've ever read about.

I'm clicking on this video and commenting, but I cannot watch this one. I'm a huge true crime fan, and none of the cases bother me except this one. I get so infuriated with this case that I can't listen to it again. The most disgusting hate crime I've ever heard and a lot of people have never heard of it.

Crazy how I never saw this on the news or social media. Thank you for not letting this get memory-holed like so many other similar crimes.
  • I live in Knoxville Tennessee this was unbelievable when it happened. My friend Randy did the forensics for the prosecutor. He was Knox county coroner for a couple decades he didn't get into any specifics just that it was the worst thing he'd ever seen before.

They would've made it about race if the victims was black
  • This story absolutely breaks my heart. It also reminds me how horrifically evil some human beings can be in this life. 🕊🕊🕊RIP Channon & Christopher🕊🕊🕊

This is the only case I ever heard of where the assistant prosecutor passed out while the victims' autopsy photos were being shown in court, there's even a video on YouTube of the court footage when it happens. Tells you everything you need to know about how barbaric this crime was.

I live about 20 minutes north of the area this happened in. I am not a racist. I have black friends and a very open mind. I work for a restaurant company and was offered a store in the dead center of that area. I'm white btw. It's a predominately African-American neighborhood. I have no issues with African-Americans at all or any race for that matter. I try to treat everyone as equals. But that area, there is something majorly wrong there. From the moment I took that store over, I met resistance from employees and customers. I was called racist, threatened, harassed. Not calling out stereotypes, but I felt like I was not welcome in that area at all, especially being a white male in a position of authority managing the restaurant. Aside from my personal experience, drugs, violence and theft are a constant issue in that particular area. I left that store and absolutely refuse to go near that area again unless I absolutely have to travel through there for something. They say people make a neighborhood and let's say from my experience, not all of that area's residents may be bad, but the ones I encountered did give in a very bad look from my perspective.
  • I had just moved to Knoxville when these murders happened. A good friend of mine grew up with Channon so I went with her to the funeral. Still to this date I have never seen a city come out to support and pay their respects to anyone the way they did for her. There were literally hundreds who attended when I was there and countless more waiting in bumper to bumper traffic still arriving as we left!! So tragic 😢…….Both of their memories are very much alive here still! I play in an annual golf tourney put on in benefit of them and there are multiple other events held every year here to keep their beautiful short lives in the public as well.

Easily one of the most horrific cases I've ever heard of
  • @kevinwebster7868
Well it is interesting that they refused to consider it a hate crime in this case and nearly every other case that involves a black person assaulting a white person but when it’s the other way around the term hate crime comes up before anything else regardless the circumstance.
  • @rebeccapugh2297
Reminds me of the South African farm murders. The same components are at play i.e., grisly barbarism, and a racial element. Stuff of nightmares.
  • @barneyronnie
The crime is that none of these monsters have yet been terminated!! That's the goddamn crime!
