This video will show the entire history of India from 29th century BCE to 2016. Due to their extreme timescales, the Indus Valley and Vedic periods cannot be shown every year, although every year is shown from 413 BCE.

A note on Kashmir: To maintain neutrality, I've simply shown the lines of actual control. Neither the Indian nor Pakistani claims are recognised outside the area they administer.

As a Mexican I canโ€™t figure out the amount of history that India has to offer, is just so incredible rich in culture that not many can have in their own country.
  • Fun Fact: Mauryan empire could have expanded more, but Ashoka decided to make the empire peaceful after he saw the bloodshed in the war of Kalinga.

But the governments of India have compressed this whole History into a page. India Historic Textbook are filled with Mughal History and British Raj. They just ignored the rich Heritage of India, the contribution of all these Empires in History is just unknown for the new generation(including me). ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

7:29 The Chola kingdom had very powerful navy back in the day. They had complete control over the Indian ocean. The Cholas extended their kingdom all the way to current Indonesia, Andaman, Sumatra, Malaysia...

I had seen this video when it first came out, it is a very nostalgic piece of art which I hold dear to me, this mapping sequence though having only depicted Indian history, opened a new chapter in my life in the world of cartography. Thank you Ollie for giving me this new hope.

Those who are enjoying here being Sikh or Maratha or kalinga or whatever, let me tell u our ancestors fought a lot to preserve this culture (desire of kingdom is one thing, need of that time). This is why we are sitting calmly today. So please be interested in politics and spread awareness.

Hats off to you, it takes lots of research to pull off a map video like this.
