Koblenz is a beautiful city where the Moselle and Rhine Rivers come together. With a population of approximately 113,000 residents it's a popular destination for tourists.
I start my tour in the Altstadt (Old Town), a charming area with narrow streets and old-fashioned houses. Along the way, I pass Jesuitenplatz and Goerresplatz, two delightful squares that showcase the city's unique atmosphere and offer a glimpse into its past.
Continuing my exploration, I make my way to the promenade of Rhine River. Follow the promenade I reach the Cable Car Station. You can take the cable car up to the "Festung Ehrenbreitstein" (Ehrenbreitstein Fortress) and explore the fortress grounds.
The next stop on my route was the iconic Deutsche Ecke (German Corner), one of the most famous sights in Koblenz, where the Moselle and Rhine Rivers meet. The statue of Emperor William I on horseback is truly impressive. It symbolizes the unification of Germany and adds to the city's allure.
On my way, I also come across a Beer Garden, a lively spot where you can relax and enjoy some traditional German food and drinks. I pass the Basilika St. Kastor, the oldest church in Koblenz and finally finish my walk at the promenade, with a magnificent view of the Balduinbrücke.

  • At 5:21 one can see a fountain with the history-column which shows the 2000 years history of the city from the bottom to the top. The city appeared several times like a phoenix out of its ashes: after the migration period and a vikings raid, after the artillery bombardment during the war of the Palatinate Succession in 1688 and after many air raids during the Second World War. The last boost came with the federal horticultural show in 2011 for with the new cable car was build with which one can travel from the city to the fortress of Ehrenbreitstein high above the opposite bank of the river Rhine.
