Koizumi: attempts to add more lore Mario and Zelda fans: you are a good man. thank you
-
“Galaxy 2 is a retelling of Galaxy 1 with no story” Miyamoto I love you, but you’re killing me, man.
-
I feel like a little story could go a long way in Mario games. For example Shovel Knight isn't the most story heavy game out there but the story it does have really adds to the experience
-
I don’t know why, but the idea of Kamek telling Mario to go to hell is the funniest thing I’ve heard all week.
-
Miyamoto may be a genius, but he really needs to understand that people appreciate having new faces in their franchises
-
"Rosalina is a heavy weight class racer." T H I C C
-
As much respect as I have for Miyamoto, his constant dislike of story in games needs to go away forever. Adding even simple story context to a Mario game, fleshing out the reasons why you're doing what you're doing, can add a lot of extra engagement to the game. It doesn't need to be a Metal Gear Solid style epic. The story we got in Galaxy was plenty. I like having a goal other than "Complete level, beat Bowser, acquire princess" That's what made Twilight Princess so good, IMO.
-
Can we PLEASE get the Rosalina storybook as a real, physical thing?? That would be amazing.
-
Why is Luigi always an afterthought? He should be playable in all 3D mario games.
-
The gender change for the spider king in the Spanish version is,most likely because spider is a female word in Spanish (la araña) so it may have felt more natural for the translators
-
"One of Kamek's lines was drastically changed in the Chinese version." Me: Oh they probably had to change it because it translated to something confusing or offensive. I'm sure it's- "In the chinese translation, Kamek tells Mario to Go to Hell." ...oh...
-
I’m honestly on Koizumi side when it comes to story. I would love it if Mario games had more interesting stories in the main series we did get a lot with things like odyssey but I would love a big story for the next game.
-
oh, so Galaxy 2 is Miyamoto's version of story telling for the first game. in which we BARELY see Rosalina and she isnt explained at all.
-
Shoutout to Koizumi! I wonder if he could be able to get Waluigi back in the story!
-
I absolutely love Miyamoto and his influence on gaming. But the day that he retires and lets Koizumi add more story in the Mario and Zelda series will be quite nice.
-
When’s SMG2: The Koizumi cut?
-
I really don't know how Miyamoto justifies that not having a story would make the gameplay better. Can they not have separate teams? it is as simple as making the gameplay mechanics first and then a story around them that're not intrusive, and Rosalina's backstory is an excellent example that it can work. But, Miyamoto is the genius, so...

There will always be an insane amount of respect for Miyamoto from myself and others but I feel the more I learn about him and his development choices in the past couple decades or so, the more frustrating it is to hear
-
Miyamoto's insistence on taking away story elements from Mario games is such a horribly bad take. I've played and enjoyed most mainline Mario games but never considered myself a fan like I do other game series, and I've realized it's entirely because of this insistence on keeping the games devoid of story elements which can make people more invested in the characters and world. It always just feels like I'm playing a video game with Mario rather than letting myself have a suspension of disbelief to get immersed in the world. Galaxy 1 will always be better than 2 in my eyes simply because of its heavy immersion.
-
Miyamoto seems to have this old school mentality that games should only have gameplay and not story elements.
