The problem is that the old dehumidifiers are built like tanks and won't die. If you get 5-7 years of use on a new one, you're doing good.

Don't forget to mention you have a longer video with all the details!
  • I had to replace them every 2 years. My 30 year old unit doesn’t die. No thanks!

I just scrapped 2 that were only a few years old...the amount of money you save isn't worth it when you have to replace them all the time.

Efficiency means nothing if you buy something that just breaks, which is everything new. The old units were built with love, not planned obsolescence. Just keep the old ones clean, sand off rust with a wire brush, and prime and paint it. A 30 year old unit will last you another 30 years.

I have a 1990s whirlpool dehumidifier that works very well. It got replaced twice in its life but the replacements couldn’t out live the whirlpool accudry. I love how quiet my whirlpool accudry is and how quickly it can remove moisture, it’s current replacement is a solusaire (if that is how you spell it) and it is loud, slow to remove moisture, and very inaccurate on the humidistat as it will go up to 80% after 3 minutes of being off but will go down to 65 and sit there after being switched back on after a minute. It is garbage and never shuts off until the bucket gets full.

Could it be that the old one just had a technical issue? Like low on refrigerant?

So what's a good one right now for inside of the house even a small space as small as a bedroom or a living room?

Is this unit cooler and hunter better than leading brands? MideA? Fridgeaire? Homeland?
  • @atb1040
That old unit just needs taken apart and cleaned thoroughly, all these are is condensed refrigerant in a coil and a fan pushing air through it. You're old unit is probably ineffective because it has never been cleaned

Hi, I have been watching your videos specially the electrical ones, very good information. I will like to take this chance and ask you if you have ever came across to a problem with 2 breakers? Let me explain: I have a 20 amp breaker that controls my bathroom and another 20 amp breaker that controls one of my room outlets and is close to the bathroom, the outlets got a short but breaker didn't trip, I manually put it in the off position but still have voltage, then I turn off the bathroom breaker and there was no voltage in the bathroom and neither on the outlets, can you please help? Thank you.
