I knew Ben quite well. In my opinion, his off-field incidents were indications of some underlying issues that needed to be resolved, and he was let down by most of his clubs, (except that the Sharks), his Manager (especially) and the NRL, who preferred to move him on, rather than get him the support he needed. Ben was a great player, respectful and humble...and he did not deserve the lifetime ban. There is a lot more to this story, but a good overview of his playing career.

Sharks could not have won in 2016 without him. Hats off to Ben from all the long suffering Sharks supporters!

What a talent. In fact, all the Barba boys, Aaron, Ben, and Marmin, are scintillating footballers. Just brilliant!

Ben is a great player ,one of the best in the modern game of rugby league.He will always be remembered for his off field issues, but leave this man alone. I wish you were in the game now ,you would kill tried forward packs in the NRL today. I remember when we met in Northlakes in Darwin.π₯π₯ππππΏYou will always be one of the greatest naturally gifted Sportsmen to have ever played in the history of Rugby League in Australia, they can never take that away from you , congratulations BEN .πππππ

what do you mean "we'd never know his full potential" - HE LITERALLY WON DAILY M AND MAN OF STEEL - he reached the highest potential recorded in history - everything else is just extra , this man done it.

Alot of players get left behind with gambling and drug addiction the NRL and clubs push them aside instead giving them the support needed π―

I remember when he was in reserve grade and looking at his stats were unbelievable. It was like when Thurston was a fringe player for the Bulldogs. You knew something special was to come. Off field incidents and personality clashes destroyed him
