My Sub 2:50:00 Marathon Attempt | Jersey City Marathon

Published 2024-05-19
On April 14th 2024 I took on the Jersey City Marathon - my third marathon ever to run sub 2:50:00 and Qualify for the Boston Marathon. 14 weeks of training led to this moment here. Couldnt do any speed work for 10 of those 14 weeks because of a slightly herniated disc in my lower back. As many of you know, to get faster you need to be doing speed work - all this led to the question, is this even possible?

In 14 weeks the most amount of miles I ran was 50. I still strength-trained 5 days a week and was able to gain weight during this process.

Learned a lot during this prep about myself. I don't regret a thing.

Any questions regarding training or anything like that LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS

Man that 2:50:30 is so far ahead of what most people can do, it is a dream pace. I struggled to get below 3:30, never did. You have many marathons head of you. I think the 3 hour barrier is much more visible, anything below 3 hours is superhuman territory.
