This 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse started life as a FWD non-turbo car. Using parts from multiple generations of Mitsubishi Evo, owner Miguel has turned it into a fire-breathing, E85 drinking, Franken-bishi with big power and a bigger story.

Thank you guys for having me on! 🙏🏻 Another win for my DSM peeps!

What a refreshing video that takes you down memory lane. Miguel is a class act, he’s the standard for the DSM community. Or any community, taking pride and having love for what you have will always give you great results.
  • @DC5Brandon
I'm glad Zack said it. The design is totally underrated. One of the best designed cars from the 90's. It looks better than some new cars today.
  • Miguel is someone I look up to in the DSM community. The build he has done is incredible.
  • @CaptainTonus
Nice to finally see a 2g on this channel! And Miguel's car is one of the coolest builds out there. It's worth noting that most DSM's had a rear LSD (optional on 2g's) but it was a viscous type whereas EVOs had a clutch type LSD.
  • @SteveWeltman
I loved the honesty of the owner, the car and this review. It was stellar and exciting as well as authentic in every dimension of review. Great work! Miguel you have a cool car.

That greddy type s bov never gets old. Brings back so many good memories

Watched and then worked with my dad (RIP) building out his 1992 Plymouth Laser AWD, these cars are so hard to find parts for now in my experience. Total beasts when dialed in right. Good for Miguel - DSM is a family

Great Job Miguel. I had 4 Mitsubishi Eclipses in the 1990's. My first one was a base model I got brand new in 1990. Then I had a 1992 GS-T modified to 300 hp. Next a 1994 GSX modified to 350 Hp. My last was when I purchased a brand new 1997 GSX from the dealer. I later modified it and built up the engine to run 25 psi and made close to 500 hp. Running 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds and quarter mile at 11.7 @ 120 mph in a 5 speed manual. This was in 1998!!! Loved that car, but sold it in 2004 when I moved on to other brands. Thanks for the interview and run down memory lane. DSM cars are a labor of love and glad to see them getting the love they deserve. Especially now as they are close to 25 years old!

The 2g GSX is my "I never should have sold that" car.
  • @imSchwaggy
honestly one of the best looking cars ever.
  • @Tyler97GSX
Props to the determination turning a 420a car into what this is now. Great to see a DSM on this channel!
  • @michaeln.7083
That car needs to be raised up about a inch and a half,.. stiffening it won't help it's a great looking car and took me immediately down memory lane.. I'm 45.. love it
  • @SlippingTime
Well deserved recognition and appreciation. People see what many of us already know. And what a car with a superb recipe to represent.
  • @JoeEngineer
Man these take me back. My first car was a 1990 Eclipse GS that I had in college, while the cool kids had their brand new 2nd gen GSXs. Mine had no turbo AWD and broke down quite a bit, but I've always had a soft spot for the 1st and 2nd gen GSXs.
  • @thebornack
Love it! Makes me appreciate my 1st Gen. and what it was at the time. Back in 1997.. here was my build: 1992 Eagle Talon TSi Automatic Upgraded Fuel Pump 550cc Injectors HKS Boost Controller HKS Vein Pressure Converter HKS GCC Cold Air Intake 20G Turbo ported and clipped Upgraded Intercooler Larger Throttle Body Extrude-Honed Intake Manifold Extrude-Honed Head with 3-angle valves JE Forged Pistons .030' over Block bored .030" over ARP Studs throughout Extrude-Honed Exhaust Manifold w/ External Wastegate 3" Downpipe 3" Exhaust High-stall Torque Converter Some of it built by Buschur Racing. It was the only Automatic that was ever known to be built at that time. Buschur was going to try to get me featured in Turbo Magazine, but the car broke and never ran again. Ran 11s without any tuning/dynoing. The car in this video is great, but my car was likely the coolest sleeper street-driven, street tire 1st gen ever built. No offense, but it doesn't look like much advancement in the past 20 years. I think the DSM 1G/2G platform has even more potential with today's advancements (street driven not the ones people convert to drag cars).
  • @MrJessegsx
For those of us that have been in the community for a long time (personally with my 2G DSM for over 20 years) we love these cars. I applaud Miguel for the work he’s done, and continues to do, for and with the community. As for the canyon carving capabilities, from someone that Time Attacks a 2G, I can tell you that these cars potential on the road course is extremely overlooked. Very fast and can handle extremely well. When setup correctly, these cars will rival any modern day car on the circuit.
  • @OutsideDuhBox
I used to own 3 1999 GSTs back in the day, one of my FAVORITE cars of all time.
  • @michaele.7003
I love the greddy bov. That sound brings back so many memories.
