Before the robots get here … I just wanna say that I built my PC about 4 1/2 years ago with your videos. It has never crashed, it’s been running great, the best PC I’ve ever had. Thank you and have yourself a great day.
  • Another fantastic roundup, sir! I am really excited to get my hands on Erica Synths Labor. Not only for my own prototyping, but my kids (ages 9 and 12) are taking an interest and learning how to solder. I love that Erica Synths is really taking an educational route. AND… Thank you for the kind words on the Slight of Hand, and Arp of Darkness. I’m so excited for you to play with the AOD. I hope you find it enjoyable, and useful!

Thank you Robin for being so busy sorting out all this software and gear for us. We'll see you Sunday night!
  • @PCoyte
I loved that Modular on the roof channel too - really inspiring for simple set up in a romantic urban setting!
  • @sunlightprism
Thumbs up for the Rosco P. Coltrane reference, wasn't expecting that. LOL
  • Really interesting thoughts on technology potentially taking over the world, taking our jobs etc....we have good reason to be concerned!
  • @Dogboy73
(singing loudly) "IT'S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME ............ OF THE MONTH!!"
  • @AndyVonal
Yep.... indeed, Robin, it's definitely "Brooks-A" (but I would say that wouldn't I???). Thanks for the lovely "Monthly", always fab!
  • We've had arm based surfaces at work and they are a total nightmare..... As things don't work with them.. I'd steer very clear of them if it was my pennies....
  • @PatternMusic
Looking forward to you takes on the Telepathy bundle and Tetrachords. Tetrachords just got some powerful new beta software.
  • @livelooper
Nice to see ST Modular featured. (are we not saying "Labyrinth"?)
  • Great question. Intentional Music vs Generative music. It's become as relevant as the Analog vs Digital question. There are many of these today. Players vs Programmers, Acoustic vs Electronic, Modular vs Computer vs Synthesizer, DAW vs Live, Improv vs Written, educated musicians vs self-taught, hobbyists vs artists. In the end it's all music, but when the gear does all the work, what does the musician become? Are modular sound generators really that different than using a computer's plug-in generators to do the same? Is a parameter Tweaker a musician at all? All pertinent, all important to someone.

What what what did I just hear a rooster in the back ground?
  • I think the absence of real musical talent began to show its claws with the advent of sampling and software such as acid. I've had so many acquaintances show me their latest song they said they created/wrote and it was totally put together by combining pre-recorded patterns. Having the computer do this for you, albeit with patterns generated from a pool of programmed instructions which one culls from, is about the same thing. But if there's joy in the creation and in the listening despite the origin, does it really matter? Is "AI shaming" another form of bullying? I think that musicians who play their instruments (and I'm including those who patch their modular) have a greater chance for success if they showcase live performances whenever possible. Bottom line, it's all music and not guns and that means a lot to me - which doesn't mean it has to mean a lot to anyone else. My sentiment. Cheers Robin.
  • Now that Windows doing what it is doing... and Apple is what it is, expensive mostly. About time trying Linux, again? FlatSix impressed me the most this time and get 10 points for innovation and stuff.
  • Perhaps your humour flew over my head, but Erica's "Labor" does not stand for "labour" but rather "laboratory" (like the German word and possibly other languages).
