As a waiter, when I worked in very fine restaurants, our 'employee meal' was right off the menu - we ate/sampled what we served. We were required to take our uniforms to a tailor, to be fitted. It was strongly recommended that we eat out often and to read the newspaper on a daily basis. I remember an interview where I was asked to walk among the tables and chairs, the gracefulness of my movements being assessed.

The bride was so kind and down to earth I really loved her energy. Considering this was filmed 10 yrs ago, hope she is still happy
  • I truly enjoyed this behind the scenes. I would watch this as a series.
  • Just incredible...mind blowing. I can't believe this is from 2012...where has this gem been? I adore this hotel and staff. Make sure to watch the other one as well. Very heartwarming πŸ’•

Disappointing to see Pepe Fanjul profiled, who with his brother, uses child and forced labor in their company's sugar cane fields in Dominican Republic. Just this year (2022), the US banned sugar imports from Fanjul's company because of their forced labor violations. A federal investigation found that cane cutters employed and housed by Fanjul's company were subjected to withholding of wages, abusive working and living conditions, and excessive overtime, not to mention the child labor. He is also a multimillion-dollar donor to Marco Rubio, who in turn supports the federal sugar subsidies that the Fanjuls profit from and which cost US taxpayers nearly $2 billion a year. But let's watch Pepe enjoy his expensive hotel experience while the workers that provide his riches live in squalor.

I think the best job is the lift attendant. He doesn’t sweat , he meets everyone and most probably hear the juicy bits πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

the only person i related to on an emotional level in this entire video was the poor window cleaner. watching people so casually mess up something immediately after you fixed it to perfection (in my case, stacks of folds) everyday really wears you down. edit: nvm add the chef who got overly attached to orlando the ant
  • You can just see Thomas calculating how many ant traps he'll have to order, and thinking of all the discreet hiding places to put them....

It's fascinating to watch but I don't feel like I'm missing out πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I absolutely adore the german general manager! He is such a delight and his dedication to service and everyone's experience when they stay is so wonderful! I hope to stay at Claridge's one day or night after seeing the incredible service and enthusiam he and others exhibit there.

if I ever pay $200 for a dinner that includes live ants and requires me to pull vegetables out of pots of soil myself SHOOT ME.
  • @gabe-po9yi
I felt bad for the restaurant chef having to deal with his kitchen being invaded by someone who serves ants and weeds.
  • The general manager is fabulous...perfect for the job! Also love the telecoms guy.
  • @suedoyle3007
Most sane people try to keep ants out of the kitchen πŸ™„

Gosh - but I wanna stay at Claridges ! What struck me ,most ,is that the staff must all be something of social workers working and dealing with so many different personality types - all wealthy,.
  • I got engaged here back in 2006 when Gordon Ramsey looked after it. We had a fabulous tasting menu, with thankfully no live ants! Gorgeous place and wonderful memories.
  • It's ten years later. Hopefully the bride has aged and grown out of the awful teenage giggle, and the groom has grown less pretentious. And we know were Andrew is now.

So,,, did Timothy give the game away about who was the anonymous pop star who wanted the bath replaced by a jacuzzi (previous episode) when he said Noma was like "our Lady Gaga"??? πŸ€”
  • The fact that a Danish Ant Forager is an actual position for someone is most unsettling.
