The Lighthouse (2019) - Review (Spoiler Free)

See? I told you my next video would be normal. And in my return to my traditional video making formula, I couldn't be happier to be discussing...what's this? A new film for once? (So new it hasn't even been widely released yet, in fact.) Yes. That's right. I'm reviewing Robert Egger's new bizarre arthouse film, The Lighthouse. Another masterpiece released once again by the champion of independent horror, A24.

Somehow, while writing the script for this review I forgot to mention both the stunning cinematography (which honestly deserves an Oscar) as well as the incredibly chilling musical score. I hope you will take my word for it here that those two elements are both excellent and also contributed to my enjoyment of the film.

Also, I apologize for re-using a lot of the trailer footage and certain photos throughout this review. There are only two trailers available on youtube and both of them are pretty short so I had to work with what I had.

I feel so lucky that I was able to see such a great film during my first advanced screening. You better believe that I will be back in theaters next weekend to see it again. I think this movie will be talked about for many years to come. In any case, I'm almost certain this will be among my top favourite films that I've seen in 2019. This is a weird one, folks. I'm not kidding around here. Please don't miss it. And be sure to see it on the big screen if you can.

At least see it for Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson's performances. Those two are worth the price of admission alone.

As promised in the title, there are no spoilers in this review so you can view it regardless if you've seen the film or not.

Enjoy, and as always, thanks for watching!
