I see even as a young lad Sephiroth had a penchant for standing menacingly in the middle of fires.

I like the idea of Sephiroth going like, "This weapon is too short. Very inefficient. A 7 foot sword should suffice."

That man just took a bag of doves everywhere he went and dumped them out right before he appeared anywhere.

0:35 The missles that Sephiroth sliced didn't just miss the main group, but also hit the Wutai soldiers that you can see behind them. Sephiroth really did consider everything.

So this is before sephiroth got his contract with L'Oréal and he got his long sword

The biggest takeaway that I think is interesting about Young Sephiroth is that it also indirectly gives some more weight to just how terrifying Jenova is, too. In the Kalm flashback Sephiroth mentions that she has 'superior magic' and so Sephiroth in this scene casting Fire 3 right out of the gate really puts it in perspective that he didn't grow into his power -- he was always a bit of a monster and only as an adult figured out why.

So Sephiroth has been practicing turning around standing in fire since he was young. That's why he's so good at it.

If you pause and count the cuts on the ground, it's 8 cuts, his signature Octaslash.

What i love about Sephiroth as a character is that he has never been shown to struggle in battle. Even though he has been defeated,he was ALWAYS winning prior. It really gives a sense of invincibility to him.
  • I'm surprised that so many people are surprised by Seph being powerful as a kid. He's literally a bred super soldier. Him coming out of the gate powerful was kinda the point. On top of that, he's spent his whole life training in swordsmanship and magic, so this is what we should have expected even if it was never shown.

Even if he were on your side, you'd still be more afraid of Sephiroth than your actual enemy. That's a testimony to his demigod type abilities and imposing aura.

No surprises, It's been said in the original game many times he fought in the wutaii war and was a Super Soldier, an Icon, a Hero , but it's SO FUCKING cool to see these words coming to life with this scene!

Seph gives me some Anakin vibes. Guy was an example and insanely OP but lost his way and went from biggest ally to worst enemy.
  • @damien7490
Angeal voice: "All hail sephiroth, eh?"
  • @MBOmnis
The world's enemy, indeed. Pretty awesome to see the slash marks on the ground all around him.
  • @rah7866
That's insane. I thought he grew into his power.... NOPE they're saying he was always a monster. No wonder why by the time he's an adult he's so aloft. Even when training against his friends. He knows he's an ocean difference in power between him and everyone else!

They love using that "Sephiroth standing in the middle of a firestorm" motif.

The character designs in this series never disappoint.
