Few manufacturers have seen the same success and esteem throughout automotive history as Ford. Founded in Detroit in 1903, the American automaker has constantly been at the forefront of progression and will most certainly remain there, covering almost every car segment available on the market today. Despite making so many different types of cars, Ford’s muscle car and pony car history is without doubt one of the most iconic in the company’s history. The Blue Oval's muscle car roots can be traced back to the '60s with the first-ever Mustang and has since developed countless iterations of the nameplate to become Ford’s longest-running model.

While the Mustang is Ford’s most well-known muscle car, it’s not the only muscle car nameplate that Ford has released to make strides within the segment. Muscle cars themselves are mostly known for the massive engines under the hood, making an absurd amount of power to match the beefy exterior design. Throughout the decades up until today, these engines have come with some mighty top speeds, with Ford being a brand that represents the capabilities of the muscle. Here are the fastest muscle cars in Ford’s history.

The sound of that '70 Torino GT Cobra (2:30) brings back some great memories.

1967 was the best looking Mustangs ever. The fast back is one of the sexiest body lined cars ever produced in America.
  • @Darren-su2gm
I think the 1969 and 1970 mustang fastback models were the best looking ever. The 2005 to 2014 ford mustang shelby GT500 are Great looking too.

It's a cryin' shame they didn't sell those Falcons in America. Gorgeous car.

You missed the 1971 Australian GT HO Phase 3, the fastest 4 door production car of its time. It had the 351 Cleveland engine. Also missing is the 2012 Falcon FG2 Pursuit R-spec (Ute, you might call truck for some strange reason cos it’s really a utility vehicle). This has the 5L Supercharged Miami engine down tuned at release to 315 Kw but without extra parts added & just a flash tune gets 408 Kw 547hp. It has a GT 4 door brother also. Then there is the Australian Falcon FGX XR8 which produces 351Kw from factory & its little brother with the 4L Turbo Barra 6cyl engine which produces crazy amounts of power and torque

1973 XB Falcon is a beautiful beast and straight out of the original Mad Max. As badass as you can get!
  • Of all fords produced even in limited production the ford gt40/gt not mentioned is crazy

The hp rating listed in this video for the ‘13 GT500 SuperSnake is actually the hp rating for the ‘13 & ‘14 GT500. The SuperSnake was a higher output version.

My Baby was a 1989 DECH LX with my 351 Cleveland. 5 point Racing seats up front and no back seat. Medium Flake Deep Crown Royal Blue towing my Kawasaki 750 dbl carb Jet-Ski. Miss those days.

What about the Pantera or the Ford GT?
  • I used to race a Torino down at the Fremont drag strip and one thing people don't understand this yesterday had a big motor but it was also a very big heavy car and it still pushed it very fast
