"Effing Nailing" the ILS Landing in the Heatblur F-4E Phantom II

Published 2024-06-27
A simplified ILS approach from the many missions/instant action missions in game from ‪@HeatblurSimulations‬ for DCS World. Map: Sth Atlantic, airport is Rio Gallegos.

This was a lot of fun and took me several goes...again, simplified.

Great landing, Prickly! 👍🏻👏🏻💪🏻 Btw, this video reminds me: wouldn't it be cool if ED made a "night mode" for the UI and F10 map? You know, so your eyes don't get burned every time you get out of night mission back to ME/UI...? I'm still on 2.8, so maybe they've done it already, idk?
  • Nice. Saw you kept a few knots in your back pocket. Most do. PAPI/VASI had you high most of the way to the threshold. At least Jester didn't bitch. Saw you caught the VOR/ILS knob out of position in the comments. Might need that next time. AOA is your friend.
  • So I'm seeing slightly fast is the most consistent way to have a smooth landing. Anyone else finding this to be true?
  • That was a great landing but looked more like a visual approach? I rarely saw the attitude indicator on screen and even when I did I didn't see any active needles.

Because it lacks a thing called “aerodynamics”. Take away a little thrust and you get a real quick drop in “go forward”. There is a reason why the Phantom is called “The victory of thrust over aerodynamics”

Nice M8.. I have basically given up on DCS now, closed my Sqn, switched my Server off, closed my Discord... The whole Razbam thing has just taken everything away from me... I have Zero trust in Ed or any other dev for DCS... Still going to watch your chnl though...

What map/airport is that? The PAPI lights look a lot more visible than some which can be helpful for practice.
  • I have serious trouble keeping this jet on speed in most regimes

"ILS Landing" Looks outside for a majority of the approach mfw
