Just years after World War I, Germany and other nations are in an economic depression. Leader approval ratings of Germany, Italy, Japan and Spain are shallow, giving the rise to military dictators along with their parties. Years after Adolf Hitler becomes Chancellor of Germany, he and his generals plot the invasion of Poland.

World War II In HD Colour is a 13-episode television documentary series recounting the major events of World War II narrated by Robert Powell.
The show covers the Western Front, Eastern Front, North African Campaign and the Pacific War. It was on syndication in America on the Military Channel (now American Heroes Channel).
The series is in full colour, combining both original and colourised footage. It was made by World Media Rights in 2008/2009.

  • This takes me back to a time when the History channel had good programming... now we have ice road truckers.

Was so mad that Netflix doesn’t have this anymore but thank god I found it on here. Absolutely incredible documentary

I’ve watched this series at least 15-20 times. Easily a top 3 WW2 docuseries ever made. Absolute top notch in production, content, presentation. This along with World At War wear the crown amongst a myriad of documentaries made on the most horrific 6 year stretch in history

I wish there was a World War I In HD Color with the same narrator and people working on it.

Even after all these years I still learn something new about World War Two every time I watch these documentaries. It's so important that these events are never forgotten. Especially in the times that we live in now.

THE greatest World War II documentary ever made, bar none. It never fails to give you chills as to the horrible and grand scale of the most destructive conflict in human history.

Probably the best documentary ever about WW2

I must have watched this series 20 times when it was airing on the Military Channel back in the mid 2000's. I had a giant rear projection HD tv, and Discovery was one of the few channels that had tons of HD content. The restored footage, soundtrack, narration (such a smooth voice), and excellent pacing, are all outstanding, still the best WW2 documentary series ever made.

My father asked me why I was watching this. I replied that I didn’t know what happened thanks to 21st century British education. Funny he knows every detail though.

Robert Powell’s flawless narration always reminds me Mark Felton’s excellent WWII themed uploads

I've watched quite a few WWII documentaries. This is the first I've learned about Germany and Italy's actions in Spain. Well done, and this is only part 1.

Crazy how Japan, Germany and Italy all had leaders who fought in wars, and they had radical approaches to solve the economic struggles, people were desperate for an escape and to blame.
