As a college instructor for 20 years, I know that some people can be a master of subject matter but can't teach it to others. Helping someone else understand complex issues and making it easy to understand is a skill. It comes natural to a few and others never get it as hard as they try. I am a fire fighter. Knowing that there is a disconnect switch from the battery to the vehicles systems is VERY important for me to know. Our challenge is that if the battery cell is damaged in an accident how can we perform an extrication without getting shocked, or worse? Obviously we need to remove a viable patient from a vehicle as quickly as possible, but if the vehicle is charged, we are presented with greater danger for emergency crews. Any information in this regard, addressed to emergency response, would be much appreciated by many.

I'm really looking forwards to watching your entire how hybrids work series. I've had 3 Priuses, and now have a 2020 Corolla 1.8 hybrid, and (apart from one blown bulb), never had a single problem with any of them. Amazing reliability for such a complex piece of electro-mechanical machinery.

hello there, thanks for all your educative videos. I just bought a new highlander hybrid bronze edition. I picked it at 2 miles and full tank, but the vehicle was empty at 380 miles. base on 35 per gallon, I should be getting 595 .am I doing something wrong?

I just bought a RAV4 plug in hybrid and I am able (with an application on my smartphone) to start the AC air conditioning about 20 min before leaving in the morning (even st a timer)… do you recommend to do that on cold days to have the battery in adequate temperature? I wanted to “spare electric capacity” but after this video, I might do otherwise. Thanks.

How long can we park a Hybrid Rav4 2021 without damaging the battery ? I don’t use my car during the summer.... so can I be in trouble if I use my car once a week or even every 2 weeks ? Thanks :) It’s my first Hybrid :)

With a vehicle like this, do you recommend or not recommend using a 12V trickle charger/battery maintainer if the car is going to sit for more than 3-4 weeks. Can you comment on both the new Lithium Ion and the old Nickel Metal Hydride. When you are driving on the highway between75-80 mph, what is happening to the hybrid battery? Mine usually stays at 3 bars. Does it just switch to using the engine as a gasoline engine 100% no damage to the battery because it’s not being charged?

I have a question. Is it normal to hear a clicking noise down below by your feet every-time you press the brake pedal or brakes? The clicking noise is coming directly from the pedals being pressed. I’ve heard hybrid batteries usually have a lifespan of approximately 16 years. Is that your experience? I have a 2009 Prius. If the hybrid batteries go bad, is it possible to just run it without the hybrid batter where at the point it would become a gasoline powered car only?
