Hey Kendall been watching for a while and you’re still my favorite to watch when I get bored
  • @T.J-and-Soul
You should be using different powder down the barrel. 4f for the flint but maybe 3f for the bullet.

Glad to see you wearing safety glasses. Never forget that buddy. They used to close their eyes right before firing. Even then there were a lot of injuries. Cool rifle tho. I've been watching you since you were killing pigeons with springers. Good to see you succeed in this endeavor. God bless

Im considering getting one of these as well, it's seems like a good idea since percussion caps and primers are hard to find.

A good habit with ALL muzzle loaders is not to use your big powder horn to fill ANYTHING but your measure. There have been embers in barrels and/or pans set off the powder in them and bye bye hand. This is important on ALL muzzle loaders for followup shots but on a flintlock if something goes wrong and the flint drops, it's over. You can get special flintlock pan primers but just dump a little in your measure, then use that to prime the pan. If something happens its gonna be a poof / small bang instead of a massive one.

We get the term “going off half cocked” from muskets. When you pull back the flint/hammer the first click it’s at half cocked and when you pull it back the whole way it’s full cocked. Sometimes the musket can go off at half cocked if the mechanics aren’t good inside it.

You should be using 2f powder in the Barrel and 4f in the flash pan
