The Zyklon ZL42 is the third looping roller coaster model built by Pinfari & became a very popular due to its small footprint of 138X62 feet (42X19m). In fact, they remain so popular that only three of the 17 still in operation have been relocated. All of the others, including this one, are still standing in their original parks.
Oaks Amusement Park is located in Portland, Oregon.

She wasn’t much, but she was ours. Huge childhood nostalgia right here
  • My first non-kiddie coaster. 15 years later, I’m a huge coaster nerd. Godspeed, Looping Thunder!

The amusement park is awesome, so many childhood memories. Went here once a year every summer as a kid.

I was on a school field trip in 8th grade and I remember this being my first roller coaster ride. I was terrified throughout but it was an amazing experience

Richard Castromayor We don't have amusement parks.  This is the only one in the Portland Metropolitan Area.  The advantage of our parks is that no one is there on certain days, and you can ride the same ride 7 times over a thirty minute period.
  • i live in this area too ive been on this ride its fun! Note: BUT it is very jerky
  • This was my first loop roller coaster! So many memories. Too bad they're tearing it down. The first and only time I ever got to ride this was last year on my birthday! I hate roller coasters but I actually remember I had tons of fun on this one because it doesn't have a huge drop and the drop is what scares me

See, here in Oregon we have this stuff that falls out of the sky 8 out of the 12 months in a year called "rain" so nobody wants to invest in the big fancy thrill rides like they have in California or Florida because they would only be making their money back during a few months each year rather than year round. We like our little park just fine, if you don't, then book your vacation at Disneyworld.

I was on this ride, and I thought I would die! XD Sorry, I've never been on a roller coaster and this was my first time. When we went upside, it hit me with such force that my glasses flew off!

I'm going in May when the rides are open I hope it is good!

Oaks park is getting a Gerstlauer Euro Fighter coaster! it's going to replace the looping thunder and will have a beyond 90 degree drop i'm guessing. This will be AWESOME!
  • @realmackle
It was cramped and jerky but it was really fun. It's been replaced and now its a eurofighter that's much more smooth
  • @ari2sussi
I remember when I was 4 and I always seen that roller coaster and never been on it... now im 10 and I’ve been to the new one and it was very fun!
  • @bigbeanpot
Neat little coaster. Thanks for the video.
  • @inakie7756
It's been replaced by a bigger one called Adrenaline Peak

One has either been moved or bought out of storage. It is being built at Keansburg Amusement Park in NJ Right Now.
