  • Johnathan you are a true inspiration, watching your chess had made me lose 600 rating points and all hope in myself
  • That's a fun sideline! I love seeing the development of Orthoschnap theory, super entertaining chess. Btw, new vid style looks great! The dim lighting is kinda nice imo

At 7:30, after Na3 black has Bxa3, but white can respond with Bxe6 since the rook now protects the c1 bishop, so this is fine. I was confused for a minute and decided to edit this comment with the answer rather than delete it :)

New setup looks good. This gambit looks "dubious good", in true Schrantz style. A small request, as you're upgrading things: consider buying a cheap compressor to run your vocal mic through, before it hits your audio interface. Something like the Really Nice Compressor is, well, quite good for the money, and will solve the "I'm excited and now the mic is clipping" audio stuff. My unsolicited $0.02 🙂

The Orthoschnapp is my legitimate response to the French defense nowadays, but I never thought about this check line! Will be a fun variation against my friends who actually try to prepare against me :)
  • Great analysis! I got wrecked by this a few months ago. Completely had me off guard. I haven’t seen it since, so looks like I will try attacking with it now

I recently discovered and love this guys videos. Useful stuff you can actually put into practice for the brave and the experimenters out there rather than click bait just to get more views. Useful ways to be active and agressive against london systems and french defences without all this theory and banging your head against defensive "book players" forcing you to solely do all the attacking work whilst they're just sat playing for a draw and sucking all the last drop of life out of chess. Useful stuff.
  • @Pleeze
Love the Orthoschnapp, can't wait to try this version of it :)
  • Great vid Jonathan. I’m gonna try this today against a club player who likes the French.
  • @Deckinickinic
Finally! A Worthy Opponent! This battle shall be legendary!
  • As a Grob player I found this vid particularly interesting and easy to understand. Thanks, Sir.
  • @yfomenko
Great idea. And please keep the board that way. Classical, as it should be
  • @BobChess
You make me love Orthoschnapp Gambit!
  • @BrunoBeltran
Excellent...my best chess buddy just picked up the French this should be fun For him
  • @tajf5529
Jonathan thank you for the content, don't mind you changing stuff as long as you don't change your everlasting fantastic mood. Brightens my day, thanks!
  • As an amateur who hates playing against the booked up. French. I can’t not give this a try. In my last 3 games, after 2. c4, they bailed with c5! Cowardly? Certainly. Strikes fear in the heart!! 👍
