Concord rent control ordinance finally takes effect after organizers fail to get measure on the November ballot. The new ordinance caps rent increases at the lesser of 3% or 60% of the Consumer Price Index, or CPI. It also includes just cause eviction protections. abc7ne.ws/3U9WfsN

Rent control will lead to less rentals. What do you think rents are based on? When rental income no longer covers expenses you have to sell. Selling a house gets the landlord out of the lease immediately and gives them the money to buy in a lower cost area without rent control. How has rent control worked in NY City?

Another attack on private property. Why would anyone want to rent their property with these idiotic rules? You just probably took half the rental homes off the market with this. Good job!

It’s funny how government has no problem evicting or people losing their home cause of high property tax, yet renter eviction are a huge emotional for them. They have no problem putting fines on social security over payments that was their fault yet they don’t have any sympathy for people who they take all the benefits away from them to pay for their mistake.

Why don't they pass a rent control law for food? Food is actually more important than housing when you think about it. Food costs have gone up way more than rent.
