I like the stump removal method from an old book on farming. 1. Build a hog pen around the stump, move your hogs in. 2. Every day, take a crowbar and poke holes in the dirt around the edges of the stump. Pour some dried corn in each hole. The hogs will spend all day digging out the corn. Eventually, they’ll dig the stump up for you.

I like the fire ring idea. However, the chainsaw you used to cut the slots into the stump you could have used to cut the stump closer to the ground. Therefore the burn time would be reduced to a few hours.

I need one of those turbo handsaws. Man that thing kicks butt.
  • I have used a metal ring cut out of a 55 gallon drum to burn stumps...The WolfRidge smokeless fire pit is a much more elegant way to do it! Hint 1: next time, try drilling holes with a wood boring bit. Then soak the holes with your favorite flammable liquid, the dry stump will absorb the liquid, then it will Burn Baby Burn. The thinner the flammable liquid, the more it will absorb, so, kerosene will soak in better than diesel. Diesel can be smokey, anyway. A bottle of charcoal lighter fluid, soaked into the stump, burns pretty cleanly. The cuts in the stump area great idea, also.
  • Do you really think we believe you cut those slots with a Hand saw. They look al little wide, more like a CHAIN SAW!!!
  • Man that cross cut saw had one heck of a kerf! Even looks like you had it going fast enough to fling chips😂 Love those WR fire pits! 👍🏻👍🏻

I drilled a stump and made a Swedish torch out of it. Worked really well. I like that fire pit and the rack.

You should take little boss boy to see your barber.

Fyi, keep an eye on that area for awhile afterwards, it's been known that the fire can continue to burn/smoulder, for weeks and even months, thru the roots in the ground.
  • You sure made quick work of those cross cuts with that hand saw, must have been just flying through it!!! 😂 😂 😂 Happy Father’s Day Dan, hope you and LBM have a great day together.😊

Yes Dan, a very Happy Father's to you. That is quite a unit for Burning the Stump out. I have been in contact with Bob Nelson with Wolf Log Splitters. He is going to be at Booneville in August and I have been invited. I don't know if I will be able to make it but see how Funding is for us. He is going going to have a Wolfridge Log Splitter there a 17RS. I do hope I can make it to look at it and Possible Purchase it. All depends on our Money Situation. Being a Senior on a Fixed income and almost 72yrs it might work Out. Again Happy Father's Day Sir and Enjoy with your Family. Ron from the Woodyard in Duanesburg NY.
  • Happy Father's Day Dan! Nothing better than to do projects with your son! Great burn!
  • @Slaphappy-_-
This is way better than renting a stump grinder. What a family time! And a cool product to use!
  • @bobbg9041
The stump burn method needs a below ground hole to the center of the stump to speed it up use an electric blower
