My BUJO definitinely looks like his. No fancy stuff, just the basics

I've been doing a monthly reading challenge through my local library, and this month was to read a book by a neurodivergent author - I chose your book, The Bullet Journal Method! I've been following all things bujo for over a decade (the early stop motion video with the sticky notes!) so I didn't expect to learn much new, but I was surprised! I also appreciate that your book has the same helpful focus on visual examples throughout as your video content. Even as I move through reading the book, I find I don’t have to add a bunch of bookmarks or sticky tabs to sections I'll want to reference again later because you've made such a thorough index! You've created a powerful tool, and sharing that with the world has been such a gift.

This is what bullet journaling should be. I started at the end of 2019 and I felt owerhelmed by the level of artistry I saw on Youtube and ID. Then i started to stick to the core basics of BuJo and i Found the productivity method that suits me the most. I briefly tried a return to a digital format but i had to much friction an distractions so I reopened a notebook and decides to stick with it. I like to see it like the Diary of Indiana Jones, I write things down, sometimes i sketch something. Someday it is just a reminder of the things i have to do, experience or just how i feel at a moment. I'ts really a life companion. But my piece of avice for someone who wants to try. Keep it simple, and give up the perfectionism. IF you're as lucky as me maybe you will rediscover yourself.
  • I like your "non-artistic" approach. Same here, I have a minimalistic use of the BuJo, sometimes I doodle a bit. The only difference is that I do the entries on the evening for the next day so I don't have "things to do tomorrow" on my mind. The next morning I start checking the BuJo, of course, but normally I am ready to start.
  • Thank you for the simple breakdown. I was feeling a little overwhelmed when I started reading your book. Because my mind is so creative and I homeschool, I was over thinking it. The 5 min breakdown makes it easy to start the routine and later I can incorporate the other things that come with the full setup. Great video!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I am recovering from pneumonia and what felt an entire season of different illnesses. I was sitting in front of my open to do list, clueless and overwhelmed by the huge amount of projects that piled up over the past months. This clear, precise and ingeniously simple explanation felt like a helping hand and a hug. It is just what I needed, for real. Thank you.

The perfectly “empty” background of the video made me pause to admire, to relax and to breathe more deeply. The genius in bujo simplicity just keeps giving. Welcome back, and thanks. Many times, thanks. 🙏

I really love the new symbol of mood or feeling with"=" long time ago, I actually also invented this kind of mood/feeling symbol on my own with "- -" 😁 Thank you for this new insight Ryder!

Meanwhile, the majority of bujoing youtubers are creating arts and crafts scrapbooks trying to teach people how to "bullet journal" and discouraging them all in the process.

Love the hair, Ryder. I think it's my first time to see the = Moods part

What an important reminder to not get lost. Thank you 💖
  • I find it amazing how the bullet journal adapts to our needs without limiting us like most planner templates do. I practiced the method the entire last year, and for this year, I ended up opting for a planner for the convenience of having the pages "ready," but I already regretted the choice and miss my old customization. Now you've managed to clarify well the reasons why practicing this method is good; you become more self-aware of your actions day by day, besides showing how SIMPLE it is to maintain. Thank you, Ryder.

My Bullet journaling goes back as far as Ryders first video , so that's what 8 .. 9 years now ? I'm still today really only just doing what Ryder shows here simple journaling no layouts, no tables, no colours and art .. just pen and paper and mindfulness. I start every months with my month activity/tasks review then daily log start, during ,end . its been a way for me to cope with Cardio issues and personal struggles and EMDR and with progress and wins.

Thank you for this video. My girlfriend sees me everyday bullet journaling in the morning and evening and now she gets it. Glad to see your hand is healed. Also I like the new hairstyle. Great way to start 2024!
  • @SnowYukiYap
Ryder, thanks for sharing this tips I'm writing daily logging as mini diary, triangle sign indicates mini diary, now my Bullet Journal 2024 looks more full, no more empty pages
  • @2110scorpius
Dear Ryder, welcome back. Hope you recovered well from your injury. 😊 Thanks for this video. It'll help me catch up on my BuJo practise of February. My notes are all over the place and I want to collect them back into my BuJo. The mood bullet will help a great deal. ❤
  • I have ADHD and when I heard about bullet journaling it sounded very interesting to me. Then I saw all these elaborate journals people were making and my anxiety was like well we can't do that but maybe there's some principals I can take away. Then I saw this video and now I was less intimidated by the concept. I think you can make another video like this one for ADHD people who need things to be simple to get started. I've simplified this even more by using a pocket sized notebook. Which I can carry on me so I can take my daily tasks with me if I need to. It also limits how much I can put on each day limiting the potential stress and anxiety I get from robust notes/schedules. I've been doing this consistently for two 6 weeks now and I feel more in control of my days than I haven in a long time. I have also been starting my day with meditation as soon as I wake up then I move on to my bullet journal after my morning self care. Thanks!
  • Always a pleasure to watch a video from the creator of the bullet journal with the real minimalist way few others can do. This is what I call productivity... spending the least amount of time to create the most valuable output.
