Great find. A studio engineer (Brad Knorr RIP) taught me how to use one of these when it was the newest available MPC. Definitely one of my favorite MPCs of all time.

Brother, I appreciated your views and agree the Akai MPC3000 is a true instrument. Rogin Linn, intended the MPC3000 to become a new instrument and users to become a MPCist. The MPC3000 is the culmination of that vision. There is nothing like it. I own 4.

  • @kennylee5621
When the pandemic started a lot more people started to get into beat making and djing because you could do both of them within your own home.
  • @artphonic

The 60/60II were first and weren’t in every studio. THE THREE THOUSAND? Broke the door down and truly introduced the MPC to the entire music universe. It’s been on more tours than any other mpc. RnB/Reggae/Pop…. I’ve seen them run whole stages on 60 date tours without so much as a hiccup. Rental houses in NYC started out by owning 2 or 3 but quickly had to purchase 20/25 of them because of demand. I used to hear the guy turning down rental orders on the phone and be like “ what is it with this machine?”. Older rock and roll guys hated the sudden popularity of these units and looked down their noses at them. (That’s the era when rock died and the 3k was the final nail in the coffin). After that Roger Linn quit EVERYBODY scrambled to get the last units. It was nuts! Then the 2k came out and it got ABSOLUTELY NO RESPECT! It was the joke of the industry and everybody dissed it. Sales had to be slow because the love of the 3k was so strong. Akai tried to shove the 2k down our throats after they broke away from Roger. It was YEARS after it’s release before the 2 because popular. Now, in 2021, the 2k is sought after. But the MPC of all MPCs is not the 60s (people just got sick of the limitations), not the 2k (no Roger? WTF is this a toy? no lie that’s was they used to say), not the SPs (wait, how many seconds?) The all time mpc King was and still is THE MPC 3000! Beige or black. If you owned one in the 90s people treated you with respect! Before Kanye, nobody respected the 2k much. Just a true historical statement. Side note…. “The sound” clean or dusty, wasn’t the main feature on the 3. That fkn sequencer feel and midi in/out was what made records hits. RnB loved it because the timing was unmatched. Don’t let nobody fool you saying “there’s really no difference in swing and there’s no magic….” That’s some straight bullsht. That machine is fkn magic! Even beats with no swing selected… swung lol.

Akai should just reissue this mpc, its the most wanted mpc
  • @unc1589
If I walk into your studio and I see a 2k I’m like “”eh. cool”. If I see a 3? Warm an fuzzy all over just from the memories. Immediate respect.
  • @empirestate2241
nice videos brother !!! does your Mpc's Have Vailixi chip/os or everything still original ? Greetz from holland
  • You like what you like. I want a second Mpc 2500 just because. Backup.
  • @akaixl83
Yea if akai would just reissue their old Mpcs and have behringer involved it’d be a home run. My favorite is the 3k , then 2xl , the mpc x is awesome just has more of a digital vibe than hardware
