Published 2020-01-01
Astronaut Michael Collins speaks on the significance of NASA's first moon landing 50 years to-the-day.

Michael Collins flew the Apollo 11 command module Columbia around the Moon while his crew mates, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, made the first crewed landing on the surface. You can see why this man was selected to go on the moon mission ,very unassuming and intelligent man He is an equal to buzz and Neil his contribution to the moon landing , keeping everything running smoothly While his comrades carried out their assignments is testament to his contribution to what many believe as mankind’s Ultimate achievement..

Wow. He has such a great sense of humor and he is so well spoken and so lively. At age 88 ! One can only hope to be just a little like him at that age. Truly amazing human being.
  • His book, Carrying the Fire, is still one of the best ever written about the space program.

It's such a shame that President Kennedy didn't live to see his challenge come true....
  • Imagine watching two guys having fun with your love while you are orbiting few 100 miles above. This guy is double legend
  • Thank you Mister Collins for piloting Apollo 11 to the moon and back to earth! Rest in Peace.

Michael, part of me wishes I could have been alive to have seen the amazing and super dangerous feat you guys pulled off as it happened, but I'm an '80 baby. LOL Hopefully our astronauts today are truly ready to brave the feat again. 💪😎👍

I am saddened to read some of the remarks, jokes, and jabs on this video. But I am happy to see that Collins through all the ups and downs still hold a sense of pride and hope about our future of exploration.

Arguably the most intelligent and articulate of NASA’s astronauts from the Apollo era. His book is a consummate read on 11, but on the trip to and from the moon. RIP, Mike.
  • Michael Collins is and was a well spoken man. (He’s a somewhat distant cousin of mine. And I was taught to have respect.) Please be considerate and respectful in your comments!
