The Lexus LS460 is one of the Most expensive Lexus models to repair and own! I always mentioned that you should be careful with LS460s as they can get very expensive to repair.

Today we take a look at a beautiful 2011 Lexus LS460 with only 70k miles that is in the shop for a lot of expensive repairs and in what I call the LS460 Pile up when repairs turn into more repairs. And at the same time we have a much older LS430 with double the miles and half the issues.

  • I appreciate you so much!!! I'm a 64 year old widow, and I'm in need of a reliable car. I have been watching your videos for weeks now, making lots of lists of what the best and worst cars are (and the years that were best within those years). THANK YOU for ALL you do to educate us!!!❤❤

I love that he does not just play along with the usual Toyota/Lexus fanboy talk and tells it like it is. No car is perfect and even Toyota has some dumb stuff to deal with.
  • @watkikel
A wise man once told me if you can’t afford a car when it was new, you can’t afford to fix it when it’s old.
  • @unebonnevie
Toyota/Lexus must have hired the engineers from BMW/Audi to design the LS460.

This is why I drive a 2002 LS430 and a 2002 4Runner 4wd Limited. Some would say they are old cars but they drive like new at 22 years old. Both were owed by old ladies and have around 150k. If I maintain these cars I see them lasting another 20 years easy. Can't go wrong with older toyotas. I personally like how the 430 looks over the 460

I'm so glad I sold my 2016 LS460 at 80,000 miles. I wish the new owner good luck on that car.

I dont know how you can keep me engaged the whole video although I dont own a Lexus or Toyota, I don't have a car repair shop and I work in the medical field. Your way of talking, presenting and explaining is great. Wish you all the best
  • I've been driving between Fresno and the Silicon Valley (360 miles weekly rt) for the past 12 years, caring for family w Parkinson's. There was 3 months where it was daily. Scheduling made it critical that I show up on time. My 92 Camry never failed until the head gasket blew at 500K miles. The 2003 replacement is giving the same reliable service. Used engine went into the 92 so I have reliable backup. Thank you Car Nut for all the good advice
  • Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this timely information. Most appreciated!

MY 2013 Ls 460 L had the same problem at 175000 miles, and it took the mechanic 2 tries to do it right and it cost $2500 for the job. It was the only problem my Lexus LS had in 260000 miles when i sold it for good money . The LS was the most reliable Lexus I ever owned and I am on my 4th one.

Undoubtedly your best video explanation of why/why not to consider certain model/years of a Lexus…the video was both comprehensive but easy to understand…great job AMD!
  • I’m going to say I stumbled upon you videos just scrolling through not looking for anything particular. Your knowledge and connivance of said knowledge is outstanding.
  • @Audiomainia2310
Your honesty is greatly appreciated. Looking out for the customer - you are a rare breed.
  • My LS430 has had a few issues, but nothing I couldn’t DIY in the driveway. Rear hubs weren’t the easiest thing ever, but I got it done. Everything else so far has been easy. Oh, unclipping the driver side downstream o2 sensor took a lot of patience and MacGyver-ing. But it has been absolutely rock solid as far as not being disabled. Very comfortable and quiet. I’ve heard from many sources to avoid the 460, especially before 2013. CCN reinforcing this for sure. I believe what he says without hesitation.
  • @WeAreOne-31
I was fortunate to have put 378000 miles on my 2008 LS460. The only engine failure was the starter at 320K. I'm now the proud owner of a '14 GX460.. Letz gooooo...
  • AMD, I've been watching you for quite a few years. I love what you do. Because of your channel, I have bought a 2010 Lexus IS250C, and a 2017 Toyota Sienna XLE. Thanks for all you do.
