Pre-War Steel! Rescuing A 1940-41 Ford Truck From It's Grave!

Published 2021-03-07
Looks like we're not done grabbing vehicles to work on. We passed up the '56 Ford F6 for this pre-war steel. Not sure if it's a 40 or 41 let alone if it's a 1 1/2 or 2 ton truck. Whatever it is, it will be turned into a Super Pickup for another 4x4 project in the coming years!

We are going to make the attempt at starting up the flathead this summer alongside all of our other vehicles that have engines as the oil doesn't smell burnt but doesn't matter as the oil pan is going to get dropped to clean out the sludge.

    I have a 41 ford just like it! It’s is a 41 1.5 ton flathead v8 truck. Great find!
  • I think it's a 41 Ford. The hood ornaments are a big giveaway..also if the rear diffs are locked up, pull the prop/drive shafts off...that'll help you shift her..

Hi Im in the UK I have a 42 Ford 'jailbar' 1.5ton with 6cyl. I need the 2 Ford scripts for hood sides, only used on early 42s ( built in late 41 ) before they started stamping it in. They are 5" long made of 'pot metal'.
  • War time was from 38 to 45 ....pre war was 1937 and earlier......
