Mario kart ds was insane. I had a friend at my boys and girls club who’s top screen had too many dead pixels to operate properly. So he used the map on the bottom to race and would actually do really good.

honestly, aalthough I missed mission mode from DS, the main issue I had with 7 was the lack of VS mode. In pretty much every other Mario Kart, VS allowed you to play any track you wanted without being locked to the cups. 7 only had the grand prix, and that killed it for me.

I remember playing races with my brother we had shells on only and yet he got a lucky 7 which gave him 7 red shells. That was terrifying to my young self
