It always struck me as odd at how irrelevant Cyclizar is in the story despite its pardox forms being the box art legendaries

One thing I would like to point out about cyclizar is the fact that being an staple of Paldea's identity could come from the "Lagarto Verdinegro" a lizard commonly found throughout the Iberian Penninsula that is considered for many Spanish people to be a candidate to replace the bull as the national animal. Lagarto Verdinegro meaning Green-Black Lizard which are the primary colors of Cyclizar.
  • fun fact, Koraidons tail and chest "tires" increase in size when you hit water in game, like they put more air into them to help float!

Kinda weird you didn’t talk about their abilities, Orichalcum Pulse, and Hadron Engine. Orichalcum being the mythical element, and is believed to be a mixture of gold and copper. And Hadron Engine, named likely after the Large Hadron Collider, being Miraidon’s Engine, meaning it has achieved a near perfect energy source, the very power of the Big Bang.

I first interpreted Koraidon’s Fighting type as a reference to it being the apex predator of its age, hence its Apex Build it assumes in battle. It being so freakishly strong and survivable given how it can traverse just about any terrain correlates well with a “fighter”.
  • Cyclizar has always been a fun Pokémon for me. Being a bike lizard is fine and all, but the fact it’s normal dragon is fun. Unlike the other normal dragon, Cyclizar is a dragon that was domesticated. It liked humans a lot, the body heat they produced, and ended up having a symbiotic relationship with humans being their ride. So while still having draconic powers still deep within them, they have been tamed and became the equivalent of dogs and cats. Which I do love to imagine that since they like human’s body heat, they would curl up around their trainer when they sleep to both protect their trainer, and absorb their body heat. Also yeah, Miraidon being Roko’s Basilisk IS pretty terrifying of it being realized. A robotic serpent that is made and completed, and could do ANYTHING.
  • Cyclizar has 121 base speed. Thats a reference to the spanish road speed limit being 120 km/h
  • @kamenkuma05
The basilisk/infohazard might be an inspiration of Terapagos as well, as while its name is completely redacted in modern texts, including the professor’s research notes, the unsettling Ms. Briar has an original copy of the Scarlet/Violet book without the name redacted, and seems to be seeking Terapagos out

For me, Miraidon and Koraidon are the best box legendaries in the series. Not only are they with you throughout the entire game, but both of them have a lovable personality. They aren't just monsters fufilling a role or waiting for a hero. They are your sandwich loving buddies who truly care for you.
  • @Ditidos
Don is actually an outdated form of sir (still technically usable, but no one uses it), king is rey. It also means tooth in latin and is a common suffix in animal names, so Koiradon is the tooth from the past and Miraidon the tooth from the future, which are very cool names.
  • @StickMaster500
I love how even before the game released, we already knew that the themes for the games was Past vs Future and that Pokemon would be getting Past and Future forms just based on the Legendaries and the Professors names
  • Hi. I'm a guy who tells you about German Pokémon names. Today, it's about Cyclizar. Not Koraidon and Miraidon, because they have the same name in German and English and they're explained in this video already. So, Cyclizar is called "Mopex". The name combines "moped", which is the same in English and German, and "Echse", our word for lizard. Note: The "chs" is often read as an x. That's why the "Echse"-part is not as obvious as the "moped"-part in the name. Yeah, and that's it. Hope you enjoyed it.
  • @sobbleco6248
The Japanese name for Miraidon’s Paradox name, Iron Serpent references Yamata no Orochi, who also played an antagonistic role.
  • @Lupinemancer87
As much as I like that we have Koraidon/Miraidon, I wish we could ride on a Cyclizar.
  • @bluekirby_64
As much as I prefer Miraidon, I never got the hate for Koraidon's throat wheel. The point of that thing in real lizards (and other animals with similar throat sacks) is to be as visible as possible, so making it stand out on the Pokemon always made perfect sense to me. If anything, it makes me like the design even more.
  • @mavriiick
Something I noticed myself is that "Miraidon" sounds a lot a "Morado" which is the Spanish word for purple. Miraidon is not only purple, but comes from the violet game. Doesn't really mean anything I just thought it was cool.
  • The whole hero biker idea for pokemon SV is also a heavy influence for Team Star; a group of bullied students grouping up together to fight for the injustice against bullying... a bit too well but still. Not to mention their teams extensive use of biker helmets and some of the group riding Cyclizar themselves, only 10x cooler because they attatch loudspeakers to their saddles.
  • @romanansari2003
I think Koraidon's Fighting type also comes from their aggressive primal instinct since they are a dinosaur or animal who evolved around their primal environmet like Great Tusk. In one of the pokedexs its written that Koraidon splitted the earth with his punches which kinda shows how powerful were they in theit ecosystem
