  • I think for me this is Taylor's most terrifying song or one of. Imagine being stuck in a moment or a feeling while everyone around you continue with their own lives and grow.

This song doesn't need a MV. It's already playing in everyone's head when they hear it.

Me: I’m depressed My brain: listen to Taylor to make things even worse Me: omg yes

Diagnosed with PTSD almost 2 years ago and this is the only song I’ve found that explains how it feels to be stuck in a memory you so badly want to forget

She wrote a whole song on "time won't fly, it's like I'm paralysed by it" 🥺🥺💕💕

"And it's been so long but if you ever think you got it wrong I'm right where you left me." Is honestly such a gut punch of a line. 3.5 minuets of her explaining how much he hurt her...how it literally broke her to have him leave her, all for her to say that if he changed his mind she would still want him. And let's not ignore that the chorus starts with the word 'help'. She's literally begging him to help her because she can't do it herself!

"break ups happen every day, you don't have to lose it" and yet here I am, still losing it
  • @tedguanzon3499
Taylor should win an award for rhyming "mascara run" with "met someone"

This song somehow gets sadder the more times you listen to it. Maybe because every time you come back to the song she's still at that restaurant, still in that corner and cross-legged in the dim light and the dust collected on her pinned-up hair gets a little bit more every time.

I lost my mother to cancer a month ago, and this song exactly describes what I feel right now. She was my mother, my best friend, my sibling, my lover, my everything. Taylor's songwriting is beautiful, it can connect with any moment.

I LITERALLY CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO THIS!!!
  • @bubbles1978
She is NOT a waitress. He broke up with her in a restaurant and time froze for her. She was unable to move on while he went to live his life and possibly started a family of his own. She wouldn’t know because she’s still in denial.
  • I feel bad for everyone who doesn’t stan Taylor. Imagining missing out on this?
  • @neto_daniela
The best song Taylor has ever written, just so spot on about all stages of adult heartbreak, feeling like everyone is moving on but you, that everyone around you minimizes your pain - 'breakups happen everyday, you don't have to lose it' -, replaying the same scenarios in your head over and over again, asking what have you done, because it has to be you, he moved on, you're the one still stuck. Absolute perfection.

3:33 i interpret this part as: "you left me? no... " (denial) x2 "oh you left me no choice but to stay here forever" (acceptance)
  • @user-jt2ry4jm4i
**Just imagine how many people are listening to this with you right now**
  • @girlenchanted
"she's still 23, in her fantasy" feels personally called out
  • You know..... Even though this song highly speaks about a break up. I feel this feeling is is present even if it's not about romantic relationships. There are times, when you're an adult and you see everyone moving forward... In education, in jobs in relationships but you seem to have gone nowhere. Sometimes devastating things happen to people which leave them no choice but to fall behind. The ache of seeing everyone else get jobs or join colleges or having a healthy relationships but you stay there. Same old ways. Nothing changes. Gives a a bit of "nothing new" Vibes but more painful. And"dust collected on my pinned up hair." I feel that it's like how you prepared yourself to move forward in life but all of it went in vain. So you just wait there, decorated and dust collecting on your dreams 😔

Back in 2012, I experienced my first heartbreak at 21. A three year long relationship, high school sweethearts that just grew up. He said I'd find someone better. He's married with a family. I'm still searching for what better is. I have moved on, but I'm still stuck.
