We spend so much of our day working – how can we ensure our job doesn't make us miserable? It takes more than just money and conditions. Neil and Beth discuss this and teach you some useful vocabulary.

✔️burnout - lack of energy or enthusiasm because of working too hard
✔️deadline - the time or date by which a particular job must be finished
✔️to be breathing down someone’s neck - (idiom) to watch someone very closely and check everything they do
✔️presenteeism - staying at work longer than usual, or going to work when you are ill, to show that you work hard and are important to your employer
✔️work-life balance - the amount of time you spend doing your job compared with the amount of time you spend relaxing with your family and doing things you enjoy
✔️win-win - a situation or result that is good for everyone involved

I used to work in a very competitive enviroment-boss breathing on my neck, vicious colleagues demanding targets etc -Thanks God it's over, have myself reinvented and Happy with myself and new job.   • Thank you for BBC learning English. The this topic was so close to my life, because most people have bad job experiences at the one time in their life. I have been facing bad job experience more than 2 times. The reason was bad salary, inflexible and presenteeism. After the my bad job experiences, I have got work-life balance.
