Cartoon Network really created something special here with this Amazing World of Gumball episode. When it comes to mockbuster-like animation, it is uncommon to see an American corporation acknowledge it through a piece of media, especially one meant for kids. The Copycats

  • The fact that Chi-Chi and his family ( Gumball's copy ) didn't have a sister to save them was not only hilarious but clever because it was making fun of China's 2 child policy law.
  • @LightningZetton
is it funny how they left out anais due to the whole "you can only have two kids in china" but darwin is a pet but treated as a kid but at the end darwin is still a pet lmao

The fact that the episode dedicated to the copycat has the characters better animated than they're in their own show is the most subtle yet obvious way of showing the supremacy of the original show, both in artstyle, scripting and animation.
  • Yes, Anais not being in the show is a reference to the two child policy. Also, they tend to value boys quite a bit more than girls over there to the degree that they...'cancel' the baby when they find out it's a girl. The translation strongly hints at that.
  • Plot Twist: The Chinese writers of the knock off knew the Gumball writers would make this episode so they left Anias out of their version.

I like that they even mimicked the knockoff’s lower animation budget
  • Fun Fact: In the storyboards they were going to use the original Miracle Star designs for Chi-Chi and his family.
  • @ComicalRealm
Fun fact: Gumball has been to the hospital more than any other character in the show.

Technically, Anais destroyed the Copycats. They dug their own graves when they deleted the little sister. Without her, the Watersons would've perished over that goddamn bridge (Seriously, somebody fix that thing, already!).
  • I like to theorize that the Watersons doing increasingly more and more dangerous things could be commentary on how the show's writing and humor became more cynical and more satirical / going for more risky, darker jokes with each new season, and that "offing themselves" could be a metaphor for the show getting cancelled / taken off the air.

If you think about it, this episode’s writing is really clever, taking full advantage of the situation.
  • The funny thing is that the Miracle Star family's highest quality (Visual) appearance would be in an episode where they are being mocked by the very show they're copying.
  • They not only left out Anais because of the 2 child policy, but also because of the fact that boys are preferred to girls in China. It really is hell on earth.

Not only did Gumball's family get launched back into the truck with their seatbelts on was cool and interesting, but it was also hilarious

“Yo can I copy your homework?” “Yeah just change it a little bit”
  • @drsamantha1166
Fun fact: Miracle star is actually a Chinese food company, and the knock off was made for advertising and entertainment
  • "Women not allowed to celebrate in the Republic of People" made me laugh so hard! 🤣 I love poorly-translated Chinese! "Doraemon" is translated as "Mechanical Cat Beast."
  • Bruh I love this episode so much. As someone who really doesn't like people doing things to hurt or copy other people, It's glorious how they fell of the bridge. I love at the end when Gumball says, "Uh, you guys good?" Then the truck explodes and Chi-Chi says "No" And then Gumball says, "Eh, good enough". I mean, all I can think when I watch that scene is, "Well, they deserved it, man. You can't say they didn't. Instead of yelling and turning them into the government, they gave them a lifetime's worth of humiliation and angry exposure. (Wow, I had a LOT to say)
