YARR Hello me hearties, I hope you're good! Thank you so much to Buffer Festival London for having me premier this, and I'm so excited to finally share it with you all!

Kelsey hasn't always been a pirate. In fact for many years, she outright refused to ever be one. Having grown up with one eye and been made to feel as though she wanted to hide that part of herself, this story time short piece will take you through Kelsey's journey of self discovery, acceptance and embracement of one of her own treasures, her disability.
Thank you so much to Petros L. Ioannou for helping me bring this to life: youtube.com/c/LeonUnity
And also to Rain Dove: youtube.com/c/RainDove

Your sense of pride in your identity and how you've come full circle is PALPABLE throughout this. What a beautifully made, humorous yet poignant, relatable, insightful shortfilm🖤 Loved hearing your story Kelsey. You are badass. Well done to all involved! x

I loved every part of the video ❤. From the pirates and magicians part, to where you got confidence from being Delilah Bard, and your whole acceptance journey ❤✨ I admire you so much! ✨ Still praying to see you as Lilah in the real movie 🗡
  • Hey Kelsey I Know how you felt. When I was 13 I was diagnosed with Autism because I used to act strangely during school and kids used to make fun of me. the only comfort I found was dressing up and watching movies when I found comics and X-Men Movies I found out that Mutants gain their powers when they become teenagers. I felt special because i learned that Autism for me means i have gifts like the X-men. You are a hero to me and others who have gifts in acting and cosplay. Thank for just being you. You are the best actress in the world. Cheers and God Bless.

Kelsey, you're an inspiration. 10/10, deserve your own ship.

Your picture as little girl with bandage is so heartbreaking for me. As a parent of two children I imagine how much scared it was for little girl. Your mother did really great job and all this situation was really hard for her too. You both are amazing ❤️❤️❤️ I send you love from Poland!
  • @LaArRaAl
This is amazing. You inspire me to be more accepting of my own visible difference. Thank you for making this! <3

I am SO excited for this!!! Kelsey Ellison is amazing..
  • This is everything. I'm so proud of Kelsey; even in the short time I've been a subscriber, she has grown so much, and now with Rain (and Petros), her adventures are truly beginning!!!

A week before my enucleation surgery I was wearing my eye patch at the beach taking photos and this guy walks by and points and says "look, you're a pirate! " I burst out laughing but because it was so clueless and tone deaf, but he was so genuinely happy with his comment. As if was the first person never make a pirate eye patch joke. He obviously never considered that maybe I wear this patch ecause I actually have an eye with a giant cancerous tumor in it and my vision is all screwed up. At any rate, I identify as a cyclops, and I make sure to correct people.

I've always loved your story and this telling of it shows why. It's very moving but it's also a lot of fun.
  • This was amazing, clever, and hilarious in all the right places! You're such an incredible talent. I first saw you as Bellatrix a while back, and now I can't wait to see whatever you do next!
  • @jalopp42

SPECIAL THANKS TO MISO THE CAT IS NOT AN EXAGGERATION. It took us nearly an hour to get Miso in that costume and to stay still. She’s an awesome kitty who deserves all the scritches, kibble and cuddles.

Thank you for this amazing video, Kelsey. I absolutely love your work, you project such a sense of self-acceptance, confidence and goofiness in everything that you do, and I'm so glad that you're living your best life. You are a really inspirational figure, (and LGBTQ+ icon) to me, and I'm hoping with every fibre of my being that you get cast as Lila Bard. You definitely deserve it!

Woah! The level of production in this video is amazing!! You've come so far. I subscribed to you back when you were doing jpop dance covers and have been following your journey ever since! So much of my life has changed since then too. Like you, I've found myself and discovered I'm not only queer but also trans. I'm so proud and happy for you that you've found your inner power and are making so many of your dreams come true!! Can't wait to see what you do next!
