Season 1 of the Flash takes place on 2014, the newspaper is literally 10 years from then. The air date for The Flash is the same year the show takes place.

Fun fact, most of those names that Harrison said to Blackout are DC heroes in the comics, though evidently died in this continuity before they ever became heroes. Ralph Dibny: Elongated Man, Al Rothstein: Atom Smasher, Grant Emerson: Damage, Will Everett: Amazing Man, Bea da Costa: Fire, Ronnie Raymond: Firestorm.

The first 9 episodes of season 1 are 2014, after the Christmas episode it's 2015. The first half of season 2 is still 2015, then after its 9th episode it's 2016, etc. And just wanted to point out when you were googling the speed of light and sound and didn't notice a huge difference, the speed of light is a little of 874,000 times faster than the speed of sound

an important thing to note about this show in its entirety is the speed/max speed the flash can go is very inconsistent, one episode hes sometimes seen going like 20x than hes going other times

up until like season 4 or 5, the dates were the same day the episodes went up on CW so pretty much every tuesday within season 1: October 7, 2014 – May 19, 2015 season 2: October 6, 2015 – May 24, 2016 season 3: October 4, 2016 – May 23, 2017
