  • At the time that they wrote this song, they were being criticized for pandering to the Western Music industry and turning their back on their own culture. Throughout this video are images that are culturally relevant. ( there is a video that explains this). In Korea, there are artists that are classified as "Idols" others are rappers, singers etc. BTS has consistently refused to stay in any one genre or lane. Which they address in the songs lyrics.

The overuse of CGI was intentional for this video. With them there is a reason for everything. BTS are the G.O.A.T.💜

Black Swan music video next make sure you have Lyrics up for yourself😊❤ As an artist yourself I think you'll like the message

This video is an interesting one, it's kind of an anomaly for them. They're known for having a lot of storylines and doing a lot of practical effects, but at this point in their career they were blowing up internationally – people in the West were trying to box them in as 'kpop idols' and people in Korea claimed they were being 'Westernized'. So Idol is almost like a sarcastic response to that, throwing in all the CGI and bright colours possible. But at the same time actually embracing it, saying "yes we want to be taken seriously as artists, but being pop idols is also part of our identity and there's nothing wrong with that." It also mixes a lot of Korean cultural symbols with other cultures from around the world, showing how they embrace their own national identity and the global community at the same time. Edit: Don't worry about people being pressed you had an opinion. Most ARMY value people having authentic reactions and you don't have to pretend to think everything's a 10/10! I just wanted to add the background info for context :)

Too much CGI was part of the concept. They got a lot of judgement for their effects being too much, and they said, Oh, this is what a lot of CGI looks like. I love it. Many of their videos have explanation videos out there that explain the cultural references which makes makes comprehension next level. Search Explained by a Korean DKDKTv. Ty! ❤
  • Rabbit in the moon is a Korean reference in the west it's the man in the moon.

Each scene had a purpose and story. Going world wide, bullying, self respect and worth. The shark/haters ready to tear them up. Drawings they made... this is a 7 course meal!!
  • @lisabarnes6780
The excessive CGI was done on purpose. They were getting criticized for everything they did, even if it was using a filter on vlive ( as you can see RM using in the MV) so they basically just shoved it all in the haters face and said pretty much we don’t give a ——-

So the "verging on overuse" of CGI in this is very deliberate. Despite being well known for their practical effects, they were criticized for using CGI. So they lean hard into it here as an FU to haters. They lean hard into many of their criticisms. Videos too colorful = USE ALL THE COLORS in this one. Becoming too "Westernized" (whatever that means = Include massive amounts of Korean cultural refernces Yoongi - too pale = wears Snow White sweater j-hope - too skinny lanky/like Bugs Bunny = wears Bugs Bunny Sweater and dances with skinny inflatable guy Jimin - too feminine = does seductive dance with traditionally feminine Korean feather fan. V - Dresses like a grampa with his love of classic fashion = wears goofy grandpa shirt and suspenders and glasses and does little suspenders grandpa dance RM - attacked for using cute snap-chat filters in livestreams = uses them here while saying he knows who he is and what he wants and so on. This whole video is another hater clap back and an exuberant and unapologetic embrace of their own identities. Every prop, image and scene has a meaning.

thank you so much for giving time to bts 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
  • @enidcortes6957
I recommend you to check Danger, Black Swan and Run. Also, you might want to check some of their solo work, specially Suga’s trilogy Daechwita, Haegum & Amygdala. Thanks for the reaction!
  • @juneseghni
The dance is the gwara gwara from South Africa. I think the suits were made from African print fabric designs.
  • @Amanda-im4so
You should watch the behind the scenes they release for each MV so you can see the CRAZY effects and backgrounds they make for every video. Most of their videos do not use green screen. This is a very different MV for them. You would love Blood Sweat & Tears MV. 💜💜💜
  • Can't choose one. Both are great videos. But Idol for me if I have to choose one. Great reaction!! Keep going with reacting to BTS 💜💜💜💜💜🫶🏽🫰🏽.
  • @Yraha
I’ve never heard BTS until now. The video was fun.
  • @mikepiccione886
Dynamite is absolutely one of their more poppy songs but the video is beautiful❤
  • @AR-April
Congrats on being able to pick out Jungkook being relatively new to seeing BTS's stuff - pretty impressive
  • @fifiroukine5331
The over the top is on purpose. First, they proudly share their culture with a lot of Korean symbolism. Secondly, they use all the hate comments throw at them and embrace them (like "BTS use too much cgi"...well, here's more than you can process, "BTS use too much color"...) Recommandation: Save me (a one take video), Blood, sweat and tears (My fav)
  • @user-xh7il6qn7s
I enjoyed the reaction. I think you would enjoy Fake Love or Blood Sweat and Tears from a videographers POV. The transitions from one scene to another in both videos are insane
